Edebî sanatların kuşkusuz en önemlilerinden birisi olan tevriye; tevcih, kinaye, mugalata-i maneviyye gibi sanatlarla karıştırılmaktadır. Biz bu çalışmada klâsik belâgat kitaplarında tevriye için verilen bilgileri tenkidi bir bakış açısıyla gözden geçirdik ve ayrıca tevriye için verilen örnekler üzerinde düşündük. Böylece hem bu sanatı kendisiyle karıştırılan sanatlardan ayırdık hem de klâsik tevriye tanım ve tasnifini geliştirmeye, daha anlaşılır, daha mantıklı bir zemin üzerine oturtmaya çalıştık. Bu sanata kaynakları çerçevesinden bakarak cinas tevriyesi, mecaz tevriyesi gibi yeni çeşitler ekledik.
Tevriye (pun) is one of the most important figures of speech. However it is mistaken with a few terms such as kinaye, tevcih and mugalata-i maneviye. In this article we examined classical rhetoric books with a critical approach, and examples given to tevriye. Therefore we have made distinction between tevriye and others. We also tried to present a clearer definition of tevriye and found new species of it on the ground of language such as tevriye of paronomasia and tevriye of tropes.
