Klâsik Türk Şiiri’nde önemli yerli türlerden birisi de şehrengizlerdir. Yazıldıkları şehirlerle ilgili bilgilerin verildiği bu tür eserler edebiyatımızda XVI. yüzyıldan sonra görülmeye başlanmıştır. Türk edebiyatında şehrengizlerle ilgili bu güne kadar farklı zamanlarda değişik çalışmalar yapılmış ve bu çalışmalar sonucu ortaya çıkan şehrengizler, yazıldıkları şehirlerin sosyal ve kültürel tarihleri içinde önemli eserler arasına girmiştir. Bu tür eserlerden birisi de bugüne kadar adından hiç söz edilmeyen Dürrî’nin Gümülcine Şehrengizi’dir. Bu şehrengiz, Batı Trakya’nın önemli mekânlarından Gümülcine’nin XVII. yüzyıldaki sosyal ve kültürel tarihi açısından da önemli bir belge niteliği taşımaktadır.
Shehrengiz is one of the important local types of classical Turkish poetry. These types of classical works which provide information about the cities they were written about. Shehrengiz takes place in Turkish literature after XVI. century. Many diffirent kinds of studies have been made about Shehrengiz at diffirent times up to now and the şehrengiz produced after all these studies have been one of the important works in terms of the social and culturel background of the city they were written. One of these works is Dürri’s Gümülcine Shehrengiz which has not been mentioned throughout history up to now. It is an improtant document as it provides information about social and culturel background for Gumilcine- one of the important parts of West Trakya- after XVII. century.
