On The Genocıde Sensatıon In Turks And Effects On Language


Expressions like; Türk budunug ölürmek “To kill and annihilate the Turkish nation in all”, urugsıratmak “to kill off, to delete a nation”, yokadu barmak “to go towards kill off”, kanı su gibi akmak, kemikleri dağ gibi yığılıp yatmak “to be subjet to extreme massacre”,, katliam: “massacre, genocide”, bir’e varıncaya kadar kırılmak “to be massacred till the last human”, kökünü kesmek “totally delete a nation”, milleti kırmak: “genocide of a nation” Kırgız soyunu bir anda yok etmek “to destroy the Kyrgyz race in one go” are all in Turkish language. Furthermore, words like; kırgın, kıyım, soykırım, kökünü kazımak, topluca öldürüp yok etmek are the words and expressions which are being used to meet the term “Genoside” in contemporary Turkish of Turkey. Turks used these words and expressions to represent the genocides which were implemented to them. Since their introduction to the history scene, Turks have been subject to much genocide. Even today they face this serious fact and feel it deeply. These hard experiences of Turks have been one of the main determining factors of national cultural codes, so, penetrated in the epics as motifs and found their expressions in the language. In this article the marks of this perception are examined.
