Eskiden çağlar ancak birkaç asırda bir değişirdi. Uzay çağı, bilgi çağı, iletişim çağı derken çağların bir asır içinde bile gerçekte ya da kabullerde çok hızlı değiştiğine şahit olduk. Yeni çağlarda güç; bilgi, teknoloji ve ekonomide olduğu için buna sahip olanlar, diğerlerinin dil ve kültürünü fazlasıyla etkilediler. Bu gelişme ve eğilimlerden sonra bazı alanlarda Türkçe kelimeler, kendine bir sı-ğınak arar hâle gelmiştir. Tarih boyunca değişik dilleri etkileyen ve onlardan etkilenen Türkçe, bu gün çeşitli alanlarda İngilizcenin yoğun baskısı altındadır. Yaptığımız araştırmada özellikle 2000’li yıllardan sonraki defter kapaklarını ina-nılmaz bir şekilde İngilizce kelimelerin istilâ ettiğini fark ettik. 1990’lı yıllardaki defter ka-paklarında var olan Türkçe kelimeler, yerlerini birer birer İngilizce kelimelere bırakmışlardır. Günümüzün defterlerinde Türkçe kelimeler de bulunmaktadır. Ancak bunlar; ya ön kapağın en altında bir yerlere sıkışıp kalmışlar ya da arka kapağın en alt kısmında ancak kendilerine bir yer bulabilmişlerdir. Defter kapaklarının ruhları/incelikleri İngilizce kelimelerle verilmiştir. Yani mesaj dili/derin anlamların dili İngilizcedir. Ancak bu mesajların ulaştırılmak istendiği kitle Türk milletidir ve özellikle Türk gençleridir. Defterlerin ön kapaklarının orta ve üst kısımlarına, burada bulunan figürlerin yanlarına ve içlerine, göz alıcı renklerin bulunduğu kısımlara hep İngilizce kelimeler yerleş-miştir. Bu, bir alandan daha kovulduğumuzun ya da kendi kendimizi kovduğumuzun bir resmidir. Çok dikkat etmemiz gerekiyor. Çünkü kendini kaybeden, kentini kaybeder.

In old times, the ages were changed in few centuries. After that period, we are all the witness to the change of ages even just in one century, e.g., space age, information age, communication age. These changes might be a fact or an assumption. In the new ages, the one who has technology, know-how and a stable economy can be accepted as powerful, so they had affect on languages and cultures of others so much. After these enhancements and tendencies, Turkish words in some areas had be-came in a situation that looks for a bay to itself. Turkish language has not only affected the others but also been affected by so many languages during its historical development, is under the pressure of English in no-wadays. In our research we note that, especially after year 2000, notebook covers have been incredibly intruded by English words. Turkish words had existed on covers in the last century, have been replaced one by one by their English counterparts. Today covers have also Turkish words. However, these are either pushed some-where down on the front cover or found small places at the bottom of the back cover. Spirits/Kindness of the notebook covers are given by English words. Namely lan-guage of message/language of deep meanings is English. On the other hand, the people to whom these messages wanted to be transmitted is Turkish people, especially Turkish youth. English words are all placed on middle and top part of the front covers, in the fig-ures placed those areas and also near the eye catching colored parts. This is the picture of our dismissal from one more issue, or we dismiss ourselves from this area. We have to be more careful. Because the one who loses oneself, loses its country.
