Since ancient times, the society’s lifestyle that they have sustained, livelihoods that they have benefited, their values, priorities, beliefs, attitudes towards certain events are reflected in language which cover all aspects of cultural identity and becomes clear with data related to language. In this respect, it can be understood from some lexical items living in language that Turkish society has known many domestic and wild animal species, classified them according to particular features, and benefited from themselves or their products. Turkish dialects have vocabulary that is detailed and rich in terms of animal naming. In dialects, animals’ qualifications and situations that can be varying according to specific criterions are dealt with a comprehensive assessment; so the naming is being done via these parallel determinants. At the same time, it is seen that some examples meet different qualities of the same animal or more than one animal with types of qualifications and use animals that have different meaning relation for naming humans and objects. In this article, it is attempted to present determiners that have been used for naming animals based on Turkish dialects. Thus, it is aimed to specify features- based upon in dialects for naming animals that have an important role in Turkish society life- and related criterions; objectify approaches and priorities in this field by utilizing linguistic outputs, within the naming context exemplify the expressive power and facilities of Turkish. The data in this context is obtained by searching some studies about Turkish dialects, especially Dictionary Compilation (TDK 1993). The classification experiment conducted in this study is created starting from the data that has been obtained.
