Traditional teaching methods are replaced by the methods which enable the students to express themselves easily in our day. Drama is one of the important methods which enable the student to participate in the process actively. Making the knowledge learned permanent via promoting student achievement is possible by associating knowledge to the daily knowledge. Drama is considered to be one of the most effective methods which serve for this purpose and many researches determine that this method should be used in all education levels. The use of drama in education as a method enable to regulate contemporary human social relations, to recognize itself, allows to produce and exhibit presence. The function of drama in education and training is very important.The use of drama method with all subjects of Social Studies course in which abstract concepts are intense has a great effect on promoting achievement. It is possible to reenact the situations encountered in social life with drama at any time desired. Moreover, drama provides positive benefits for the development of thinking, interpretation, perception, listening, and speaking skills which are inherent within the students’ effectively. From the academic year 2006-2007 programs implemented in faculties of education has changed. This arrangement made with the social studies teacher candidates drama education caused by the administration, social studies teaching drama at an effective method occurs and that teacher candidates drama by recognizing their professional life needed to exercise creation of conditions is the requirement. The aim of this study is to present the importance of drama in social studies course and its applicability with necessary explanations, model implementations, and a model lesson plan by acting in accordance with Social Studies Teaching curriculum and “Drama” course topics taught in Primary school Teaching and Social Studies Teaching Departments in Education Faculty.
