The Turkish Suffixes In The Bosnian Language And Their Using


There are evidences for the presence of Turkish tribes in the Balkans before the placement of the Ottoman Empire. After the conquest of the Balkans by the Ottoman Empire the Turkish language and Turkish culture will take place very significant effect in the region. In 1453 Bosnia was conquered by Sultan Mehmet, five centuries was under the ruling of the Ottoman empire. During this period, the Turkish Languange became the official language both of the Balkans and Bosna. Over the centuries, the Turkish language was used as the language of the peace and a symbol of the stability at the Balkans. Balkan languages contain thousands of words, grammatical structures and forms that are borrowed from the Turkish language. One of the most important grammatical borrowings in the Bosnian language are the Turkish suffixes. Occupied suffixes are added to both the Turkish and Bosnian words. Turkish suffixes enable and help to enrich the Bosnian language. During this period the society in the Balkans will undergo major structural changes. Interaction of the elements of grammar show the level reached in both ?urkish and Bosnian language. Very few languages in the world incorporating the grammar of another language . Grammatical particles and elements of the Turkish language that we see in Balkan languages and particularly in Bosnian language prove the power of the Turkish language in the region. Suffix for work -cı/-ci/-cu/-cü/-çı/-çi/-çu/-çü > -dzija / -dzije / -cija / -cija / -cija; adjectival suffix -lı/-li/-lu/-lü >-lija/ -lije/ -li; negatival adjectival suffix -sız/-siz/-suz/-süz > -suz; suffix for place, work -lık / -lik /-luk /-lük > -luk; duminative suffix -cık/-cik/-cuk/-cük/-çık/-çik/-çuk/-çük > -šica ve -cik ; -la-ma/-le-me > -la-ma; -tı/-ti/-tu/-tü > -tija ; -car/-cer > -kâr / -ker suffixes were taken from Turkish language. In this thesis we will investigate Turkish suffixes used in Bosnian language and show examples.
