Ghiyath al-Din Kaykhusraw II, his son and the successor, could not maintain this policy after his father’s death. The weakness in the administration of the state emerged in the rebel of the Babais, and the Mongols took the advantage of it. Therefore they attacked Anatolia. The Mongols under the command of Baycu Noyan marched towards Erzurum after entering Anatolia with the army of 30 thousand soldiers. The siege which started in a fall of 1242 lasted for two months.
