They used to both speak Turkish and use Greek alphabet in their texts. They particularly lived in Anatolia, for instance; in Karaman, Konya, Kayseri, Isparta, Burdur, Aydın, Black Sea area. In addition, Istanbul, Syria and the Balkans etc. Although they were Turkish (particularly Pechenek, Kuman Turks), they were managed by Byzantion as paid soldiers in Anatolian area in 11. century, espacially in the Toros Mountains and after that time, they began to adopt Orthodox Christian. Now, They have lived in Greece since the population replacement in 1923.
