Fruit Symbolism In Ottoman Visual Culture: An Evaluation In Regards The Traditional Stil-Life Paintings

This study surveys traditional Ottoman still-life paintings in the content of fruit, by focusing on its symbolic meaning. Still-life painting as genre focused on world of object. The fact that fruits and flowers assumed enermous importance in traditional Ottoman still-life paintings. This survey seeks to explore why fruits have chosen primarily among spectacular variety of natural and man-made objects and to use this question as a guide to interpret the paintings’ significance. In order to promote a greater understanding of fruit symbolism the subject evaluated in regard Ottoman culture, soci-economic structure, philosophy of life and Islamic blief.
