In the Nineteenth Century Sufi Order Politics Relation: Takka of Nehri


Sayyid Taha Nehrî branch of Naqshbandi-Khalidi which is affective in Turkey, Iran and Iraq, was founded in the early of XIXth century in Baglar (Nehrî), village of Shamdinan (Semdinli), town of Hakkari and it continued its facilities for a long time here. Though the first one who brought Naqshbandiyyah to the region was Sayyid Abdullah Shamdînî (d. 1819-20), his brother's son Sayyid Taha Nehrî (d. 1853) was the first person who established and spread the branch with the caliphs and the students who was trained by him. After Sayyid Taha in the period of Sheikh Ubaydullah Nehrî, lodge (d. 1883) gained a political identity and its subsequent activities came to the fore in this respect. In 1925, with the period of Sheikh Said Rebellion, as Sayyid Abdul Qadir (d. 1925) who was the leader (postnîşîn) of Takka of Nehrî (a sufi lodge) was executed, his son Sayyid Abdullah Gilanîzâde (d. 1967) was transferred to the center of sufi order to Urmia and Mahabad cities of Iran. As the results of efforts, Nehrî branch have continued to spread in Turkey with the lodges of Gayda, Kufravî, Norshin, Arvâs and Kalâmî; in Iran Kamâlizâde, Narzîvayî, Ermanibulâg, Tikantepe and Kohne Kale (khankah); in Irak with the lodges of Sûrsûra, Bârzân and Sheikh Raşid Lolân.
