There are many beliefs and applications that are not defined but believed to have supernatural, secret powers in the oral narratives in Turkish folk tales. The Albız is one of the chief spirits about which Turks formed beliefs and legends. In that case, Turks didn’t also cut their relation with Albız in every different period they lived; they adapted Albız to its new condition. Today, all of the Tahtacıs live around the Kaz Mountains and Madran mountains in Balıkesir. The Tahtacı Turkmens, who are one part of the Anatolia Alevis, are a society with their own typical beliefs. The belief of Tahtacı system is one of the important richnesses within Turkish culture. In this rich culture, every service, act, sign, color and number even belongings symbolize certain concepts, people or applications in a tradition go back to early centuries. These old beliefs and practices occupy a place in this life of area. This article, firstly, analyzes the status and the importance of the belief of Albız in Turkish history. Then it focuses in the etymology of the term and its place in Tahtacı beliefs and it concludes with exploring historical and sociological dimensions of the concept in Tahtacı. Whether the Kaz Mountains which are known by yearly celebrated the Yellow Girl festival have a rich cultural structure, they are not included to the folklore researches. As a result in this article, it is defended that a connection between the Albız in old Turkish beliefs with the Sarıkız in the Sarıkız Legend will be related.
