The Effect Of Old Anatolian Turkish On The Roundedness Seen In The Affixes Of Chagatai Turkish
Turkish in Anatolia, which continued from the XIIIth century to the second half of the XVth century, is named Old Anatolian Turkish. On the other hand, the language, which was used as the common language for writing and literature of Central Asian Turks in Central Asia, between XVth and XIXth centuries, is named Chagatai Turkish. There was a certain affinity between these two literary languages with the unifying effect of Arabic - Persian literary tradition, although they were in different geographies. The roundedness encountered in the affixes of Chagatai Turkish will be emphasized in this study. This roundedness can be the result of disappearance of the consonats, pressure of labial consonants or it can occur with the effect of primary roundedness which has come since the time of Kokturkish. Apart from all these reasons, the roundedness influence of Old Anatolian Turkish, which was the most powerful branch of Oghuz language, on Chagatai Turkish should also be mentioned.
