Reflections On Ötüken Its Place And Name

This paper examines the place of Ötüken geographically and word structure of the noun Ötüken. Ötüken is situated in the Otgon region where is located in Zavhan-Aymak province of Mongolia. This region is a mountainous area with many summits. One of the summits is Otgon Tenger. In the Inscriptions of Şine Usu and Terhin also suggested two other summits named As Öŋüz and Kan Iduk. The word of Ötüken is constructed by adding +G, verbal noun suffix, and +kAn, denominating suffix, to the origin ötü-. Then, the relationship between Tü. Ötüken, and Mo. etügen ~ otogen ve idugen is constructed.
