The Effects of 6-Week Plyometric Training on Some Selected Motoric Characteristics in Women Volleyball Players Between 10-14 Years of Age

This research is conducted to determine how plyometric training, like standing long jump, vertical jump, 30-second sit-ups, 30-second push-ups, 30-meter sprint, handgrip strength, leg (back) strength and measure of flexibility affects female volleyball players between the ages of 10-14. The participants were included in the study according to the volunteerism principle. Thirty-six middle school volleyball players participated in this research conducted in Elazığ / Turkey. Measurements of thirty-six students in this sampling group are calculated as 52.067±11.574 kg on weight-average, 157.11±9.164 on height average, 13.06±1.162 on age average. Besides their regular exercise program, a plyometric training program is applied 3 times per week to the participants through 6 weeks span. Paired Samples t-Test is used after conducting the normality test to analyze the data. The result of the research showed that after the end of the research in standing long jump, vertical jump, 30-second sit-ups, 30-second push-ups, 30-meter sprint, handgrip strength (right) and flexibility measurements differed drastically (p<0.05). The plyometric training program had an effect of development in motor skills while it did not have an effect on the handgrip strength (right) and leg (back) strength. Within the scope of these results, it was suggested that athletes, coaches and sports managers could contribute to the development of athletes who play volleyball by including plyometric training programs in their training programs. Furthermore, it is believed that future studies can contribute to the literature on the subject by forming the population and the sample of the study in extensive and various ways and evaluating plyometric training programs in terms of the athletes of other sports branches.
