Bu çalışmada X, Y ve Z kuşaklarının ölüme karşı tutumunun ve yas tepkilerinin tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Nicel yöntemde yapılan bu çalışmada Aydın il merkezinde yaşayan 389 kişiye ulaşılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak anket tekniğinden yararlanılmış ve “Ölüme Karşı Tutum Ölçeği” ile “Yas Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin SPSS ile yapılan analizleri sonucunda X, Y ve Z kuşaklarının ölüme karşı tutumunun ve yas tepkisinin farklılaştığı tespit edilmiştir. Ölüme karşı tutumda Y kuşağı daha az, X kuşağı daha fazla tarafsız kabullenme ve yaklaşım kabullenme göstermiştir. Ölüme karşı tutumda Y kuşağı daha az, Z kuşağı daha fazla kaçış kabullenme göstermiştir. Ölüme karşı tutumda X kuşağı daha az, Z kuşağı daha fazla ölüm korkusu ve ölümden kaçınma göstermiştir. Yas tepkisinde Y kuşağının daha düşük fiziksel, duygusal, bilişsel ve davranışsal tepki verdiği tespit edilmiştir. Z kuşağının daha yüksek fiziksel, duygusal, bilişsel ve davranışsal tepki verdiği görülmüştür. X kuşağı ise yas tepkisinde iki kuşağın arasında yer almaktadır. Ayrıca cinsiyet, kaybedilen kişinin yakınlık derecesi, kaybedilen kişinin öldüğü yıldaki yaşı, ölüm nedeni, ilişki düzeyi gibi değişkenlere göre de ölüme karşı tutum ve yas tepkisi alt boyutlarının farklılaştığı görülmektedir. Bu verilerden elde edilen bulgular sonucunda kuşaklara göre ölüme karşı tutumun ve yas tepkisinin farklılaştığı ifade edilebilir.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the attitude of X, Y and Z generations towards death and mourning reactions. In this quantitative study, 389 people living in Aydın city center were reached. The questionnaire technique was used as a data collection tool and the “Attitude Towards Death Scale” and the “Mourning Scale” were used. In order to conduct the study, the ethics committee approval was obtained from the Süleyman Demirel University Social and Humanities Ethics Committee with the decision No. 116/17 dated 18.01.2022. As a result of the analyzes carried out with SPSS, it has been determined that the attitude of the X, Y and Z generations towards death and the mourning response differ. Generation Y showed less attitude towards death, generation X showed more neutral acceptance and acceptance of approach. Generation Y showed less attitude towards death, generation Z showed more acceptance of escape. In the attitude towards death, generation X showed less, generation Z showed more fear of death and avoidance of death. It has been found that millennials have lower physical, emotional, cognitive and behavioral reactions in the bereavement response. It has been observed that generation Z has a higher physical, emotional, cognitive and behavioral response. Generation X, on the other hand, is located between two generations in the decease response. In addition, according to variables such as gender, the degree of closeness of the lost person, the age of the lost person in the year of death, the cause of death, the level of relationship, it is observed that the attitude towards death and grief response sub-dimensions differ. As a result, it can be stated that the attitude towards death and the reaction to mourning differ according to generations.
