Türkiye’de akademik müzik faaliyetleri gerek sanatsal gerekse bilimsel anlamda 20. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında giderek artmış ve özellikle müzik alanının farklı bilim dallarına ayrılmasıyla bu faaliyetler nitelik ve nicelik yönünden gelişme göstermiştir. Üniversiteler bünyesinde gerçekleşen bu faaliyetlerin nitelik ve nicelik yönünden değerlendirilmesi oldukça önemlidir. Müzik alanındaki bilimsel faaliyetlerin nitelik yönünden değerlendirilmesi hem bilim hem de sanat perspektifinden incelenme zorunluluğundan dolayı oldukça güç olmasına rağmen çekici bir konudur. Diğer yandan, yapılan çalışmaların nicelik durumlarının da belirlenmesi, durum tespiti ve yeni yönelimlerin belirlenmesi bakımından oldukça önemlidir.

Bu düşüncelerle Türkiye’de müzik teorisi alanında yapılan bilimsel faaliyetler yer alan, lisansüstü tezler üzerine bir araştırma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Hem yüksek lisans hem de doktora düzeyinde yazılmış olan tezlere ait bilgilere ulaşılmıştır. Bu tezler, Yükseköğretim Kurulu’nun tez veri tabanından taranmış olup, gerektiğinde yazarların durumları ile ilgili yine aynı birimin akademik veri tabanından bilgi karşılaştırması yapılmıştır. Müzik alanının benzer konularında daha önce de yapılmış olan çalışmalar incelenmiş, çalışmalardaki yaklaşımlar değerlendirilmiştir. Tarama modelli bir araştırma olan bu çalışmada, tezlerin yazıldığı üniversite, danışmanların unvanı, yazarların cinsiyet dağılımı, tamamlandığı yıl, tezlerin türü ve konularına göre bir istatistik incelemesi yapılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, 160 adet teze ait bilgiler değerlendirilmiştir. Yıl sınırlaması, veri tabanında kayıtlı en eski tez yılından, 2022 yılının Nisan (dâhil) ayına kadar olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın yazım kaynakçasına ek olarak, çalışmaya konu olan tezlerin künyeleri de kaynakça sonrasında verilmiş olup, konu ile ilgili yapılacak yeni araştırmalara literatür taraması yönünden kolaylık sağlanması amaçlanmıştır.

Academic music activities in Turkey increased gradually in the second half of the 20th century, both artistically and scientifically, and these activities developed in terms of quality and quantity, especially with the division of music into different branches of science. It is very important to evaluate these activities carried out in universities in terms of quality and quantity. Although it is very difficult to evaluate scientific activities in the field of music in terms of quality, it is an attractive subject due to the necessity of examining it from both science and art perspectives. On the other hand, determining the quantitative status of the studies is very important in terms of determining the situation and determining new trends. With these thoughts, a research was carried out on postgraduate theses, which include scientific activities in the field of music theory in Turkey. Information on the theses written at both master's and doctoral levels were obtained. These theses were scanned from the thesis database of the Council of Higher Education, and when necessary, information was compared with the academic database of the same unit about the status of the authors. Previous studies on similar subjects in the field of music were examined and the approaches in the studies were evaluated. In this study, which is a survey model research, a statistical analysis was made according to the university in which the theses were written, the title of the advisors, the gender distribution of the authors, the year they were completed, the type and subject of the theses. In this direction, information belonging to 160 theses were evaluated. The year limitation has been determined from the oldest thesis year registered in the database to April (inclusive) of 2022. In addition to the writing bibliography of the research, the tags of the theses that are the subject of the study are also given after the bibliography, and it is aimed to facilitate new researches on the subject in terms of literature review.
