Küresel ısınma, bugün insanlığın en önemli sorunlarından birisidir ve gün geçtikçe artan bir ivme ile bu sorun büyümektedir. 90’lı yıllardan itibaren uluslararası boyutta alınan önlemler de yeterli olmamıştır. Küresel ısınmayı tetikleyen en önemli faktör atmosferde bulunan sera gazlarının ve özellikle de CO2’nin artmasıdır. Buna da enerji üretmek için kullanılan fosil yakıtların sebep olduğu bilinmektedir. Enerji ihtiyacı artıkça fosil yakıt tüketimi artmakta ve dolayısıyla CO2 salımı da artmaktadır. Günümüzde, enerji ihtiyacı gün geçtikçe artan ve küçümsenmeyecek boyutlara ulaşma potansiyeli olan bir sektör de Bilgi ve İletişim Teknolojileri (BİT) sektörüdür. Nesnelerin interneti, kripto para gibi yeni teknolojilerle birlikte BİT için enerji ihtiyacının her geçen gün süratle artacağı da açıktır. Bu kapsamda ülkelerin, firmaların, toplulukların alacağı önlemlerin yanında bireysel olarak alınabilecek önlemler de önemlidir. Bu kavramsal çalışmada küresel ısınmanın önemine dikkat çekilerek küresel ısınmaya karşı yeşil bilişim kapsamında bireysel olarak alınabilecek önlemlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu maksatla literatürdeki yeşil bilişim çalışmaları ile yeşil bilişimin ilgi alanındaki çalışmalar incelenerek çıkarımlar yapılmış, oluşabilecek kümülatif etkiye dikkat çekebilmek maksadıyla çeşitli BİT araçlarının sebep olabileceği CO2 salımı miktarları hesaplanmış ve bireysel olarak alınabilecek önlemler derlenerek öneriler sunulmuştur. Çalışma sonunda küresel ısınmanın gelmiş olduğu boyut açısından çok kritik bir noktada bulunduğu, küresel ısınmaya karşı alınabilecek her türlü önlemin çok kıymetli olduğu, bireysel olarak alınabilecek önlemlerin de küresel ısınmaya karşı kayda değer bir etkisinin olacağı değerlendirilmiştir.

Global warming is one of the most important problems of humanity today and this problem is growing with increasing momentum. The actions taken in the international dimension since the 90's are not sufficient. The most important factor that triggers global warming is the increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, especially CO2. It is known that the reason of this increase is the usage of fossil fuels in order to generate energy. Hence, the increase of the need for energy causes rise of the usage of fossil fuels and CO2 emission as well. Nowadays, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector is a sector that needs more energy day by day and the energy need for ICT sector has potential to reach substantial rates. With the new technologies such as the internet of things, crypto currencies, it is clear that the energy need for ICT will increase rapidly every day. In this context, actions that can be taken individually as well as the actions to be taken by countries, companies and communities are also important. In this conceptual study, it is aimed to determine the actions that can be taken individually against global warming within the scope of green ICT by drawing attention to the importance of global warming. For this purpose, green ICT studies and the studies included the area of interest of green ICT in the literature have been examined, the amounts of CO2 emission of various ICT tools have been calculated for drawing attention to the cumulative effect, and practical suggestions by making some inferences from the studies have been presented. At the end of the study, it is evaluated that global warming is at a very critical point, all actions that can be taken against global warming are very valuable, and individual actions can have a significant effect against global warming.
