Bu araştırmanın amacı Türk sinemasında ruh sağlığı profesyonellerinin nasıl tasvir edildiği ve psikolojik danışma/psikoterapi olgusuna ilişkin nasıl bir toplumsal algı yansıtıldığının incelenmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma tekniklerinden doküman analizi tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma örneklemi ölçüt örneklem tekniğine uygun olarak belirlenen 16 Türk filminden oluşmuştur. Araştırmada Türk sinemasında ruh sağlığı profesyonellerinin nasıl tasvir edildiği sorusu, yabancılaşma ve yetkinlik; filmlerde psikolojik danışma/psikoterapi olgusuna ilişkin nasıl bir toplumsal algı yansıtıldığı sorusu ise; damgalama, pahalılık ve lüks vurgusu, etik sorunlar ve alan karmaşası temaları altında ele alınmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre; Türk sinemasında temsil edilen ruh sağlığı profesyonelleri yaşadıkları topluma yabancılaşmış, bilgi, yaklaşım ve kullandıkları teknikler açısından sorunları çözmekten uzak, kendi sorunları ile baş etme becerileri düşük bireyler olarak yansıtılmaktadırlar. Filmler toplumsal algı açısından incelendiğinde, filmlerde psikolojik sorunları olan bireylere yönelik damgalama yapıldığı görülmekte ve psikolojik danışma/psikoterapi pahalı ve lüks bir müdahale alanı olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Filmler, etik sorunlar açısından değerlendirildiğinde ruh sağlığı profesyonellerinin etik ilkelere yeterince riayet etmediği vurgusu ön plana çıkmaktadır. Özellikle danışana ait bilgilerin gizliliği ve psikolojik danışma/psikoterapi süreci hakkında bilgilendirme yapılmaması filmlerde en sık rastlanan etik sorunlardır. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlar genel olarak değerlendirildiğinde; film senaryolarının toplumun algı ve temsillerinden ortaya çıktığı göz önünde bulundurulduğunda, toplumun psikolojik danışma/psikoterapi algısının Türk sinemasında karşılık bulduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

The aim of this research is to analyze how mental health professionals are depicted in Turkish movies and the social perception Turkish movies reflect regarding pshychological counseling/psychotherapy phenomenon. Of the qualitative research methods, document analysis was used as the research design. The research sample consists of 16 Turkish movies determined in line with “Criterion Sampling” method. The question of how the mental health professionals were described in the research was discussed under the themes of alienation and low competence. The question of how psychological counseling/psychotherapy was considered in the society was discussed under the themes of stigmatization, costliness, emphasis on luxury ethical problems and the disputes in the study field. According to the findings the mental health professionals portrayed in the films were generally individuals with low coping skills and inadequate competences, unable to solve their own problems, and incapable of dealing with problems in terms of knowledge and techniques use. When the films were examined in terms of social perception, it was found out that the individuals with psychological problems were stigmatized in the films. The individuals with psychological problems were generally portrayed as weak characters, with low coping skills and isolated from the society. In films, psychological counseling / psychotherapy was defined as an expensive and luxurious intervention area belonging to the upper economic class. When considered in terms of ethical problems, it was generally stressed that mental health professionals did not respect ethical limits adequately. The most frequent ethical problems faced were, in particular, confidentiality of the client's personal data and the lack of preliminary information about the counseling / psychotherapy process. It was observed that mental health professionals in the movies discussed the departments they graduated, their titles and limitations regarding field of study. When the findings of the research were evaluated; and the fact that movie scripts emerge from the society’s perception and representations was taken into account, it was concluded that society’s psychological counseling/psychotherapy perception finds its reflection in Turkish cinema.
