Mitolojik öyküler ve efsaneler, masalsı anlatımlarıyla, olağanüstü yeteneklere ve özelliklere sahip kahramanlarıyla, ilgi çekici ve insanı sürükleyen olay örgüleriyle, insanları cezbedebilmektedir. Dolayısıyla mitolojik öyküler ve efsanelerde ismi geçen yerler de bu ilgiden nasiplenebilmektedir. Mitolojik öykülerin ve efsanelerin geçtiği yerlere yapılan turlarda ziyaretçilerin en çok ilgi gösterdiği unsurlardan birisi de gezdikleri yerlerle ilgili olarak anlatılan efsane ve mitolojik olaylardır. Anadolu coğrafyası da başta Yunan mitolojik öykü ve hikâyeleri olmak üzere pek çok mitolojik öyküler ve efsanenin doğuş yeri olarak dikkat çekmektedir. Giresun ili de bu bakımından ilgi çekici birçok efsane ve mitolojik öykünün ortaya çıktığı yerlerden birisidir. Bu bağlamda çalışma sahamız olan Giresun Adası, başta Altın Post Efsanesi olmak üzere çeşitli efsane ve mitolojik öykülere ev sahipliği yapmıştır. Bu çalışmada Giresun Adası’nın bağlantılı olduğu mitolojik öykülerin ve efsanelerin, adanın turizm potansiyeline olan etkilerinin ortaya çıkarılması hedeflenmektedir. Çalışmada araştırma yöntemi olarak hem nicel hem de nitel verilerin olduğu örnek olay (durum çalışması) yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Veri toplama yöntemi olarak; gezi-gözlem, anket ve mülakatlardan yararlanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda adanın doğal, tarihi ve kültürel özellikleri ile mitolojik öyküleri ve efsaneleri incelenmiş, adaya yönelik turistik aktiviteler ve projeler araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca Giresun Adası’nın mitolojik özelliklerinin halk nezdindeki durumunu belirlemek amacıyla 2019 yılının ilkbahar ve yaz aylarında basit tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemiyle Giresun kentinde yaşayan 363 kişiye anket uygulaması gerçekleştirilmiş, konumuzla bağlantılı kamu kurumu yetkilileri ve sivil toplum temsilcilerinden bir kısmıyla da mülakatlar yapılmıştır. Yaptığımız araştırmalar neticesinde, Giresun Adası’nın başta mitolojik öyküleri ve efsaneleri olmak üzere, tarihi kalıntıları ve doğal özellikleriyle değerlendirilebilecek düzeyde turizm potansiyeline sahip olduğu, ankete katılanların da adanın turizme kazandırılmasını destekledikleri anlaşılmaktadır. Bununla birlikte ankete katılanların bu konuda günümüze kadar yapılan çalışmaları yeterli bulmadıkları da gözlenmektedir. Dolayısıyla böylesine kıymetli bir kültür ve tabiat varlığına istenilen düzeyde ilgi gösterilmediği, günümüze kadar adanın turizme açılması için gerekli olan başta ulaşım olmak üzere çevre düzenlemesinin ve donatıların, tanıtımın ve markalaşmanın yeterli ölçüde yapılmadığı gözlenmektedir. Ayrıca ilgili kişilerle yaptığımız mülakatlarda da belirtildiği üzere adanın özellikle mitolojik ve arkeolojik açıdan değerlendirilebilecek özelliklerine daha fazla dikkat çekilmesi gerekmektedir. Günümüzde özellikle DOKAP tarafından desteklenen proje başta olmak üzere adaya yönelik ayağı yere basan ve uzun vadeli planlamalara dayanan proje ve planlamaların, adanın sürdürülebilir bir şekilde, turistik değerlerinin korunarak turizme kazandırılabilmesine dikkate değer katkılar yapacağı kanısındayız.

Mythological stories and legends lure people with their epic storytelling, their heroes with extraordinary abilities and features and event patterns engaging people. Therefore, the mythological stories and the places that are named in legends can benefit from this interest. One of the most interesting elements of the tours to the places where mythological stories and legends are created is the myths and mythological events that are described in relation to the places that can be visited. The Anatolian geography also draws attention to many mythological stories and legends, especially Greek mythological stories and tales. Giresun province is also one of the places where many interesting myths and mythological stories emerged in this respect. In this context, Giresun Island, which is our study subject, has hosted various myths and mythological stories, especially the Altın Post legend. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the effects of the mythological stories and legends that are linked to Giresun Island to the tourism potential of the island. It was preferred case study which includes both quantitative and qualitative data as a research method in this study. There were used travel-observation and survey form as data collection method. In this context, the island's natural, historical and cultural features and mythological stories and legends were examined and tourist activities and projects aimed at the island were also investigated. In order to determine the state of the mythological features of Giresun Island, in the spring and summer of 2019, a simple random sampling method was carried out by a questionnaire to 363 people living in Giresun city and interviews are made with representatives of some public institutions and civil society entities related to our subject. As a result of our research, it is understood that Giresun Island has a tourism potential to be assessed especially with regards to mythological stories and legends, historical ruins and natural characteristics, the surveyed people supported adaptation of the island to tourism in this regard. However, it is observed that they do not thinks what has been done so far to be sufficient. Therefore, the presence of such a precious culture and nature is not interested at the desired level so far and environmental regulation and supply of equipment, promotion and branding activities are not sufficient to the extent possible for opening the island to tourism. In addition, as stated in our interviews with related persons, more attention should be paid to the features of Giresun Island which can be evaluated especially in terms of mythological and archaeological aspects. Today, we think that especially the project supported by DOKAP as a strong and long-term planning projects based on the island's sustainable, touristic values can make remarkable contributions to island to be a prominent touristic area.
