Literary works, beside family and school, have and important place in the values education. As it is known, literary Works reflect the society where they show up.
DETERMINATIONS RELATED TO THE PRESENCE OF LIFE AFTER DEATH IN THE TURKMEN TALES OF MOUNT GÂVUR REGION

The region called Mount Gâvur (Cebel-i Bereket) is within the borders of four cities comprising İslâhiye and Nurdağı in Gaziantep; Bahçe, Düziçi and Hasanbeyli districts in Osmaniye; Türkoğlu in Kahramanmaraş; Kırıkhan and Hassa districts in Hatay. The Turks sent advanced guards to the region via Abbasids raids since 8th century and became the absolute ruler of the region after The Battle of Malazgirt in 1071. Turkmen people used the area as a summer pasture and winter quarter for quite a long time and in 1865, as a result of the housing policy of the Ottoman Empire, they settled there. That the region had been a home for Turks for about one thousand years and that the Turkmen people there lived quite away from the effects of other cultures helped them preserve their old belief systems. These elements can still be observed in the rituals and everyday activities of the locals today. Turkish culture has always treated death with respect due to its obscurity. In fact, various meanings were attached to death in the Turkish culture with the effects of old shamanism ideas, one of which is the continuation of life after death. From Adriatic to the Great Wall, across the Turkish geography, one can still witness the existence of these ideas and practices. The study explored the 70 tale texts of the researcher Fahri Dağı’s work Mount Gâvur (Cebel-i Bereket) Turkmen Tales with regard to Mount Gâvur, the residential district of Turkmen people within the borders of four cities. It was aimed at revealing how the practices performed after death, which can be observed in lots of areas of the Turkish world, reflect on tales through the examples from tale texts.

In order to better understand the literary texts, to express their feelings and thoughts more effectively and beautifully, to teach and understand the important words of language, which are important opportunities of children in Turkish lessons, and to teach the meaning of the meaning of these arts especially in parallel with the age and development characteristics. studies should be carried out. In this context, the questions and activities related to the arts in Turkish textbooks, which are the most widely used and more textual texts in nature, should also be qualified and prepared for the purpose of teaching. The general purpose of this study is to determine whether the frequency of questions and activities related to the arts in secondary school Turkish textbooks is progressively improved in terms of quantity and quality as the grade level increases, whether they are prepared for purpose and function and to discuss their competence in understanding the texts in books. The data source of the study was published by Ministry of National Education in 2017-2018 academic year. Turkish textbooks form the class. Data were collected by document analysis method and analyzed by content analysis technique. In the study, “speech arts” was taken as the analysis unit. As questions and activities are taken only in the books, the question and the activity as the context unit has been selected. The reliability of the study was 94%; it is concluded that the books are reliably solved due to the fact that this value is over 70% accepted by the field experts. As a result of the study, it has been seen that there are questions and activities related to the art of simile, personification, exaggeration, metaphor, speech and contrast in the books in Turkish Curriculum. However, despite the fact that there is no study on questions and activities in the text which are not included in the program, there are different arts. Looking at the totals of the frequency of the questions and activities according to the grade level, it is seen that there is a gradual development in the books, but when the questions and activities in the books are evaluated separately for each art of speech, there is no gradual development in terms of numerical progress. In addition, it was seen that a significant part of the questions and activities were not prepared for the purpose of teaching, and studies were carried out in order to get to know the words of words from the given text. It is seen that there are few questions and activities aimed at sensing what these arts add to the text, to make sense of their meaning and importance in terms of text, and to make the aesthetic language sense. In accordance with the results of this study, it can be suggested that there are a large number of questions in Turkish textbooks in accordance with the purpose of teaching. In addition, it is another suggestion that this study should be carried out in order to understand the messages of the children and to be able to interact with the texts.

Literary texts are not only products created with pure artistic concerns; but they are also collections of information furnished with the daily life concerns of primitive man and his life codes and solutions to hand down the next generations from the perspective of mythological period and its aftermath. Thereby, this knowledge puts a life-saving burden on the shoulders of literature. New generations took the knowledge of how chaos would turn into the cosmos, and they gave similar or different reactions to the problems encountered. So-called similar or different reactions have gained key roles and have been transformed into necessary features for being united in societies where togetherness is valued and into into a variety of rituals and beliefs. While the family, as the smallest unit of society in sociological terms, is a symbol of social unity, the power of family ties represents being unified. Since the disintegration of the family would lead to many problems and cause disintegration, all the steps taken in order to establish a family have been subjected to a string of rules and social control mechanism. The narratives of the ancient nations contain conscious and subconscious codes. Therefore, the oldest creation of a nation can provide us with the dynamics of that nation's consciousness. The Turkish myths of Siberian area that have deep traces of Turkish mythology are analyzed in order to observe the values and beliefs lying in the foundations of the institution in question. This study covers texts of eighty-seven myths from Altai, Khakas, Tuva, Yakut (Saha), and Shor Turks within the context of family concept. It also deals with the ideal characteristics that couples look for in themselves, marriage types and process (from family arranged marriages to nuptial nights) that were shaped by time within Turkish system of thought and that highlight the processes to form a family through social acceptance. The main starting point of the study is the epics of Oghuz Khan, Dede Korkut Oguz Kagan Epic, Dede Qorqut and Köroğlu which host the basic principles of Turkish nation.

THE VERB "TO DIE" IN ARSTANBEK BUYLAŞ UULU'S POEMS AND HIS APPROACH TO THE CONCEPT OF DEATH

This study focuses on Arstanbek Buylaş’s approach to death, an important representative of “great poet” and “Zamane” movement. The meanings of death: the certain end of life for a human, an animal or a plant; the way to afterlife; eternal sleep; the order of the Almighty; demise; corpse. It means that death is the ultimate end of the life for a human being whose life is a short journey between the azan (prayer) and the salaah (performance of the prayer). Religious beliefs describe death as commandment, as the volition of the Creator. The journey to afterlife, in one sense, is the waiting-time of the corpse in the grave. Afterlife is the place where the corpse will be questioned by the God and will eternally stay till its rebirth. For this reason, many poets have written about death. Though there are many studies on the concept of death in the works of Anatolian poets and writers, the works of Turkistan poets have not been examined in terms of death, yet. Thus, this article will focus on one of the Kyrgyz poets Arstanbek Buylaş Uulu’s approach to death using the verb öl- “ölmek” (“to die”) and the words originated from this verb used in his poems. Arstanbek Buylaş’s being a representative of Zamane movement makes the study more interesting because the folk poets of this movement, of which the most prominent figure is Kalıgul Bay Uulu, are known as those who are visionary and thoughtful and who could feel that bad things similar to doomsday were approaching and bad things Kyrgyz people would face in the future years before and wrote about it in their poems. However, the poems written by Zamane movement poets have not been properly researched until the last period of the Soviets, and even the reading of them has been considered unfavorable.

In this study, the works of Andrew Clements, which attracted attention with the books he wrote for children and received many awards, were examined. The story of children who question how words are formed in Bunun Adı Findel, wonder how not to speak in Konuşmak Yok, struggle to read books in Kaybedenler Kulubü is told in this work. Questions and answers; problems and solutions come to the fore in these books. So, these literary texts, which deal with the intricacies of the language, its richness, its limits and the nature of the language, are seen as important in terms of giving the opportunity to think once again on the language by children readers. These books have been selected because they work the topic “language” in a way that children can understand. Document review method was used in the study. The works examined are considered important because they allow children to think on language. Linguistics, language philosophy and educational philosophical fields were used to examine the linguistic issues in the books. In the studied works, it can be seen that linguistics and language philosophy are the content that can prepare children for research areas and discussion topics. At the same time, the questions that are mentioned in the works examined allow to ask other questions about language for children. That’ why, it is thought that it would be useful to include these books in the reading lists due to the language subject mentioned in the books.

Temporal Analysis in Adalet Ağaoğlu’s Tetralogy Dar Zamanlar

Adalet Ağaoğlu’s tetralogy Dar Zamanlar, which includes Ölmeye Yatmak, Bir Düğün Gecesi, Hayır and Dert Dinleme Uzmanı, is fictionalised with different temporal techniques. Investigating the answer of the question about the temporal strategy of the novels is the main argument of the study and thus,it is aimed to probe how time is organized and formed in the narratives of the tetralogy. In line with this purpose, with reference to Gerard Genette’s analysis on time in Narrative Discourse, this study contains both the analysis of the deviation of temporal structure of the novels through anachronic elements such as analepsis and prolepsis and how time changes through techniques like summary, lapses, ellipsis and stage. Here at, some findings are presented about Dar Zamanlar. The time in Ölmeye Yatmak is arranged and shaped from different angles. It is educed that temporal structure of Bir Düğün Gecesi is built on four different time periods and that time changes are related to the movement. The existence of inflecting time connected to the parallel universes is unveiled in Hayır.Also, it is deduced that in Dert Dinleme Uzmanı the narrator plays with time without mentioning the names of the time periods and the reason of the application of the analepsises is the association factor. So, it is concluded that time notion is problematized in the tetralogy which enables the writer to reflect different temporal understandings and that a wide range of subjects are fictionalized in a short period of time.

People have done gift-giving activities due to various purposes since the ancient times. The purposes of gift-giving, the objects given as a gift, and tradition of gift-giving have differed according to the time and the structures of the communities. The gift-giving which has many functions like atonement, showing respect and love and cheer the patients up during the visit is also used for many purposes in international relations by the state officials. The Turks who founded long-lasting and powerful states in various parts of the world throughout history have created their peculiar gift-giving tradition. Turkish gift-giving tradition and culture having lasted from pre- Islamic states period to the recent past Turkish states has shown Turkish generosity, benevolence and faith and it has particularly become an important means in political relations. Gift-giving realised for many various purposes like celebrating a victory in a war, making peace with the enemy or dominating over them and consolidating the sovereignty has become an important part of the Turkish culture and state tradition. When the work named “Secere-i Harezmsahi” in which Muhammed Yusuf Beyani, one of the history writers of 19th century, tells historical events in Harezm from the second half of the 17th century to the beginning of the 20th century is examined, it can be seen that gift-giving maintains its vitality in the recent era of the Turkish state tradition, it is also benefited from its many functions such as political, social, economical and psychological. In this study, the work named “Secere-i Harezmsahi” which is the first hand source for Hive (Harezm) Khanate era and Beyani who is one of the last representatives of Chagatai Turkish are introduced briefly and Turkish gift-giving tradition which continued colourfully in Khanates Era in Turkistan is analysed. Gift-giving manners, gift-giving and taking under what circumstances and the objects used as a gift are discussed in this study.

Since this study constitutes the second section of the same research (Çifci, Musa, Sezer, Önder (2017), Derleme Sözlüğüne Katkılar (Emirdağ / Burunarkaç Köyü), Turkish Studies, Vol. 12/15, p.211-232), which can be translated as the Contributions to the Compilation Dictionary (Emirdağ / Burunarkaç Köyü), the following introduction information was taken from the previous study, and a few minor changes related to methods were added. In this study, we aim to reveal and record the words or elements in general in Turkish which are not included in the Turkish Compilation Dictionary (DS) as they have not been compiled but used in the Burunarkaç village of Emirdağ, Afyon Province through making an original dictionary of these words and elements. To this end, the new words compiled, the Compilation Dictionary (DS), the glossaries in the dialectological studies and articles named or having the content of “Contribution to the DS” have been scanned and controlled, and a small dictionary has been prepared with the words or phrases that do not exist or exist with different meanings. The dictionary is comprised of two entry list: words. There 131 entries in the dictionary. The definitions of the words compiled have been given and sample sentences have been used. If the word is already in the DS, the difference/s in meaning has/ have been mentioned. The words compiled have not been analyzed phonetically. Indeed, not many differences between written language and spoken language of Burunarkaç exist. Only nasal n (ñ), long vowels (ā), closed e (é), diphthongs (değgi>dēgi, döğme>dȫme) and vowels pronounced long (dīdīnıñ dīdīsı) have been shown with the same symbol. The constants (k>g, t>d) showing differences in the daily spoken language from the written language were detected and these words were indexed based on their pronunciation in the daily spoken language. As differently from written language, pre-sound k>g was only given as “g” because there was no guttural speech sound and no clear sound differences between g/ġ sounds in the dialect studied in this research. There has been no information given about the origins of the words. The words in the list were checked by reviewing the “Similarity Bibliography” of the research, and the ones with the same meaning and structure have been crossed off the list, and the remaining of the words were cited in this study. The definitions of the words that have been classified as original, which had not been found in the “Similarity Bibliography” and the other dictionaries were given in this study, as well as the usage of some words in sentence when they were necessary. Even though, it is assumed that the usage of the registered words in this study may be found in different dialects and regions, it has been thought that as their word originality, or their structure or meaning originality these words were transferred to a written report for the first time with this study. Burunarkaç Village micro dialect region constitutes the limitation of these compilated words. In these two studies in the region that forming the micro dialect study, Burunarkac Village, total of 259 different words (by means or structure), which had not been registered yet, were added to Great Turkish Dictionary.

Today, almost every individual has a desire and need to learn a second language/foreign language, regardless of the individual’s status in society due to reasons such as the rapid advances in technology, the changing social conditions, and the higher level intercultural interaction. Generally, religious, commercial, and diplomatic reasons are the determining factor for this desire, although the reasons for individuals to learn a second language are diverse. In fact, individuals’ desire to learn a second language/foreign language is not only a current phenomenon. Since early ages people attempted to learn foreign languages for various reasons in various epochs. Turks played significant roles in history throughout the time, established close relations with other nations and influenced these nations. However, the recent increase in the influence of Turkey on the global scene affected the activities of teaching Turkish to foreigners and the demand of foreigners to learn Turkish increased. The history of instruction of Turkish as a foreign language, which is one of the most ancient languages, dates back quite a while. Although several studies in the literature reported that teaching Turkish as a foreign language started with Diwan Lughat al-Turk, however it is known that the activities to teach Turkish as a foreign language precedes this work. Without doubt, several studies were conducted on the activities carried out in such a wide time period and geography. Thus, it is important to determine and compile the academic studies on teaching Turkish as a foreign language. In this context, the present study aimed to construct a bibliography on studies conducted on teaching Turkish as a foreign language to provide a comprehensive resource. As a result of the literature review, it was determined that there were 1660 studies (574 articles, 323 books, 481 proceedings, 216 master’s theses and 66 dissertations) on teaching Turkish as a foreign language.

Mihrî Hatun, Münîrî and Mûsâ Medhî from Lâdik were three poets trained in the same literature environment established by Bâyezid II. and Shahzadah Ahmed. These three poets who have collected poems called ''dîvân'' have some poems written for Bâyezîd II. and Shahzada Ahmed. These poets spent most of their lives in the fifteenth century and they died in the early sixteenth century. The common feature of these mentioned poets is that all of them wrote Lâdik praise poems at the same time. The Lâdik praise poems of Mihrî Hâtun consists of 25 verses and written as quadrate verse. Münîrî who was the marksman of Shahzada Ahmed wrote a mesnevi with 81 couplet in which he mentioned about his trip to Lâdik. In his mesnevi, Münîrî praised both Lâdik and Shahzada Ahmed. The application of vocabulary works on historical texts is important to show that the ability of the Turkish language to express its ability to express itself from very ancient times. It is important to examine Kutadgu Bilig, one of the masterpieces of Turkish language, from various angles. This first Islamic Turkish poetic work which datebacks to 950 years has still been examined in many respects. Our classical work, which attracts the attention of many scholars and culture competents from theologians to political scientists and from linguists to men of letters, should also be examined in terms of the existence of its words and concepts. On the occasion of this symposium, we are thinking of obtaining statistical results by determining especially possessive constructions and adjective clauses and the number and level of possibilities of expressing Turkish language a thousand years ago by scanning Kutadgu Bilig from the beginning. By putting together a separate classification of the words according to the topics in the Kutadgu Bilig index, which had been carried out before, it is our main purpose to show that the vocabulary presence of this masterpiece has reached a higher number and level. A brief summary of the topic and the study is respectfully submitted.

Although folk tales have been created in oral culture atmosphere, they were converted into writing through the spread of literature and the development of printing techniques. The story of Kurbani is one of the folk tales that has kept through such a process. The story belongs to Âşık Kurbani who lived in Azerbaijan in XVI century. The Kurbani story arised in Azerbaijan but this story is known in Turkey. The oral and written variants of this story is available in Turkey. The presence of oral and written text, of course Turkey and Azerbaijan makes it possible for us to accept the victim as a joint poet.
Alisher Navaiy takes advantage of using ideas of sufi’s connected with state in his ghazals loading them with religious concept. In this way, the mystic poet gives literary depiction of his remarks about the achievement of spiritual enlightenment. Therefore, the ghazals of the well-known poet demand us to uderstand artistically depicted religiuos concepts in them, to take aethetic pleasure of exaggerated literary scenes, to be aware of religious concepts put forward by the poet in order to feel deeply the great poet’s unique literary ability to decribe his characters and the connection of the ideas with religious concept. Keeping secret of love feelings is also one of the concepts included into such concepts. According to Navaiy’s point of view, when expressing the feelings connected with love, man can not be mahram, that is confident to a beloved one. Even one can not trust his/her heart to think about telling such secret thoughts. Likewise, the tongue can not be mahram (confident) to the secrets of the lover either. It becomes obvious that a beloved person suffers from both keeping his secrets and telling them as well. The poet sometimes names the secrets of a beloved as ahli roz, which denotes a person who feels almost dead from revealiing his secrets not to an educated person who can keep screts between God and a human but to other ordinary peaople. The following article discusses such frequent notions appearing in Alisher Navoiy’s ghazals from th collection “Xazoyin ul-maoniy” as well as the reasons why the poet pays much attention to such concepts, especially, the connection of such notions with religion, Naqshbandiya trend to which he himself belongs, the religious meanings of some phrases and terms in ghazals.

One of the important schools of modern Arabic literature is the Mahjar/Immigration Literature School. Mahjar Literature is Arabic literature created by the Arabs who migrated from Lebanon, Syria, Palestine and Jordan to America and other foreign states in the 19th century. Arabic intellectuals, who migrated from different countries for various reasons and settled in different parts of America, especially New York, created literary secrets such as al-Rabitah al-Qalamiyyah, al-Fayhaf, Kawkabu Emrīka, al-Asr, al-Ayyam ..., and they prepared the ground for literature named Mahjar Arab Literature. The Arab intelligentsia, which had to emigrate from East to West at the beginning of the 19th century, was soon influenced by Western culture and influenced by Western thinkers. This influence was mostly on the fields of music, painting, literature, architecture, sculpture and theater of fine arts. As a result of this cultural influence, the so-called “Mahjar literature” has led to the formation of the school and influenced modern Arabic literature in many ways. Mahjar’s writers, who adopted a protest style in prose and poetry in particular, confronted the records that existed in these two areas and formed their works according to the new rules and rules created by them. Mahjar literature has many representatives. Each of these representatives is at the top of their field and the two of them are named after them. One of them is the famous poet and philosopher Jubran Khalil Jubran, who died in 1931 in America. The other one was Mikhail Nuaymah, who died in 1988 in Beirut. The two literary figures in question are of great importance in the formation of the Mahjar literature school.

Mythology is a discipline that explores, mentions and interprets myths that are defined as creation stories with extraordinary features that people create in their mind as a result of consciousness of trying to make sense of humans, nature, and the universe. Myths are sacred texts which are accepted as a reflection of the world of ideas and psychology of civilizations. There is a mythological system formed by every ancient civilization on the world. Turks whose history dates back to ancient times are one of these ancient civilizations. The Turkish mythological system composes of the value judgments that Turks have created over the years and the practices connected to them. Mythological texts reflecting the first examples of Turkish worldview and culture have influenced and left some traces on people's stories related to beliefs. These features in mythological texts are still alive as subjects, motifs, beliefs and practices in various folk stories. Legends, one of the verbal products of folk culture and they told about certain persons, places or events are among these stories. In this study, the mythological elements that shaped the Turkish world were evaluated on the legends described in Aksaray, which is one of the settlements where the Anatolian cultural heritage is seen most clearly. Aksaray legends handled according to classification category; motifs and concepts encountered in legends have been associated with certain elements in the Turkish mythological system, especially ancestors and nature cults, and tried to be explained in the light of the opinions of folklorists.

Mikhail Bulgakov, who lived at the beginning of the 20th century and the end of the 19th century, is one of the world-famous Russian writer. When we look at Russian literature, it’s possible to see the writers reflecting their professions to their works (like Zamyatin, Pelevin, etc.). It should be indicate that in the work of our study named A Country Doctor’s Notebook there are also the parallels between and the author's life. A Country Doctor’s Notebook, written in the style of diary, consists of the chapters named “The Embroidered Towel”, “The Blizzard”, “The Steel Windpipe”, “Black as Egypt’s Night”, “Baptism by Rotation”, “The Vanishing Eye”, “The Speckled Rash”, “Morphine”, “The Murderer”. Looking at the work as a whole, it’s seen that each chapter is a story in itself, and the work consists of fragmented and independent narrative texts, rather, it is independent but a whole. A Country Doctor’s Notebook, underlies our study, because in this work there are seen the stamps of the period in which the author worked as a doctor. Because the works in which positive sciences outweigh, are indispensable resources for Naturalism. Despite the fact that, Naturalism, that was born in Europe at the end of the 19th century, is remembered with Realism, with its unique outlines was able to differ from it. Indeed, the basic principle of both literary movements is based on the truths. This movement handles a human regarding not the moral or intelligence features, but the incidental and physiological characteristics. This movement based on Realism, but inserts the positive sciences, especially the filed of medicine rather than the social sciences in literary, so Naturalism reveals that it also carries the Postmodernist understanding of 'anything goes'. In this case, we can also say that the Naturalism is a movement carrying stamps from the Realism and Postmodernism and it’s between these movements. The main aim of the study is to uncover the naturalistic elements in A Country Doctor’s Notebook his work. But the study necessitated also general information about Naturalism, so there were included this information and it’s relationship with Realism and Postmodernism. Some interesting remarkable points were tried to be mentioned.

The purpose of this research is to reveal and evaluate primary writers and works based on doctoral dissertations that studied contemporary theories and approaches in departments of Turkish Language and Literature, and philology in Turkey. In the early 20th century, developments in naturalism, psychology and in technology , the media's effective power and sovereignty, individuals alienated from themselves and their surroundings, questioning the existence of the humanity revealed a new truth of the world. These changes which are based on tangible value judgments and perceptions, bring a new aesthetic of literature. The "reflective aesthetic", which has been ongoing since Aristotle, gives place to the "formal aesthetic" where art concerns prevail. Narratives called metafiction begins to take place that touches with original imagery and enables reader to reproduce the text by assigning a different meaning. The works of James Joyce, Franz Kafka and Robert Musil, Marcel Proust, etc., contrary to the traditional narrative fiction and form, have a surprising effect. Traditional Turkish literature begins to break with Oğuz Atay, Yusuf Atılgan and Ferit Edgü in the 1970s. New literary aesthetics are processed in different extents by Latife Tekin, Bilge Karasu, Orhan Pamuk, Adalet Agaoglu, Selim İleri, Nazlı Eray, İhsan Oktay Anar and Hasan Ali Toptaş, modern / postmodern narratives form the framework of contemporary literature with reception aesthetics, ontological approach, hermeneutics, phenomenological approach which are different scientific fields, and with the fields of textlinguistics, structuralism, and semiotics, original analysis methods and techniques.

SECULARISM AND LITERARY CRITICISM

Secularism is at the center of discussions on academic and cultural issues as well as in every aspect of individual and social life. The relation between secularism and literature and literary criticism, which is the subject of our article, is considered from the perspective of Edward Said, one of the most prominent critics and intellectuals of this field. Edward Said, who has a well-deserved reputation for his work on Orientalism, constructed the notion of all criticism on the basis of secularism. This study examines the application of secularism, which refers to the rejection of divine intervention in worldly actions, the way it applies to literature and criticism, and its reflection on these areas. The article argues that Said not only rejected secular critique but the ability to form and direct the formation and history of the world's material civilization, and not only reject the interventions of the metaphysical elements of divine origin; that critics and intellectuals should be independent and universal qualities independent of professionalism and the critic should be regarded as universal, exile and equipped with humanist values. Said's relatively less-known aspect has been overshadowed by his other work, and is therefore poorly understood. According to Said, in the field of criticism, it is necessary to try to understand a literary work in the broadest sense by taking into account the social dynamics by the method of reading which he calls contrapuntal. In Said's sense, secularism characterizes the attempt to define the history as a worldly product of human beings.

Ismail Belig H. was born in Bursa in 1668. His real name was Ismail and was known as Bursali Ismail Belig. His grandfather, İbrahim Efendi who is known as Seyyid Mehmed Şahin, is the imam (Muslim preacher) of Mantıcı mosque. Ismail Belik, who was renowned as a poet, historian and scientist in his age, died in Bursa on April 10, 1729-22, Ramadan 1142. As it is known, in biographical works in Divan literature, writers do not express the death of poets ordinarily while addressing the lives of poets. They mention the death in a poetic atmosphere with word plays and they would like to clear away the cold and mysterious quality of death and make a positive impression on the readers’ minds. In this study, the expressions and style used by Ismail Belig while describing the deaths of the poets in the collection of biographies entitled “Nuhbbetü’l–Âsâr Li-Zeyli Zübdeti’l-Eş’âr” were investigated. In the introduction part, the concept of death and subsequently Ismail Belig’s biography and his works are introduced. In the second and the central part, the expressions of death in Belig tezkirah are handled. In the last part of the study, a complete list of the expressions of death in the work is presented. Ismail Belig lays bare his extensive vocabulary and imagination. Furthermore, it is concluded that even a grim event such as death turns out to be a positive one with poetic taste by the help of expressions used in the work. It coldness of death is not felt from the expressions mention the death.

A large number of biographical sources, especially tezkires (collections of biographies), are used in classical literature to get information about the lives of poets. When such sources lack information, the literary work itself becomes a source of biographical information. Just as each contact leaves its own traces, so too works include the traces of their poet/author. Although classical poetry was formed within the framework of tradition, it is possible to find personal traces in works of classical poetry. Against this background, this study attempted to reveal the life story of the poet writing under the pseudonym ‘Mazlûm’, about whom no information is available, on the basis of the poet’s only work the Yûsuf u Züleyhâ masnavi. Based on the information in the masnavi, the real name of Mazlûm was Kerîm Mîr Alî or Kerîm Mîr Mihralî from the Sebzevar city, Iran, wrote his work at the age of 45, and lived in cities like Hâbûşân, Chenaran, Zûrım, and Istakhr. The information in the masnavi also showed that Mazlûm was Shia and his work was a free translation with some differences of the same-titled work written by the Persian poet Mollâ Câmî’s (also known as Djāmī), although not explicitly stated in the work. After creating the biography of the poet based on the work, the study provides information on the title of the work, the number of couplets, the person to whom it was presented, the date of the copyright, its copies, and its organization. As a result of this study, the pen-named poet Mazlûm and his masnavi Yûsuf u Züleyhâ were introduced and brought up to the Turkish literature.

The aim of this study is to analyze the short story titled Lüzumsuz Adam by Sait Faik Abasıyanık in light of semiotics of translation and evaluate the translation of this short story. To that end, 2016 publication of the Turkish version of the short story, first published in 1948, and 2014 publication of English translation with the title A Useless Man, one of the short stories of selected stories by Abasıyanık, were chosen as data collection tools. In semiotics analysis of the original short story, semiotics analysis model compiled and proposed by Öztürk Kasar (2009a) based on the text analysis steps of Paris School of Semiotics was used while systematics of designificative tendencies in translation compiled and proposed by Öztürk Kasar (Öztürk Kasar and Tuna, 2015) was used for translation evaluation. As a result of translation evaluation following semiotics analysis of the original short story, designificative tendencies were determined in 32 contexts in the translated text. Over-interpretation of the meaning was determined in eleven contexts, alteration of the meaning was determined in six contexts, darkening of the meaning was determined in four contexts, perversion of the meaning was determined in three contexts, wiping-out of the meaning was determined in three contexts, opposition of the meaning was determined in two contexts, sliding of the meaning was determined in two contexts, under-interpretation of the meaning was determined in one context while no context was found with destruction of the meaning. Therefore, designificative tendencies in sixteen contexts were classified as within the scope of meaning, designificative tendencies in ten contexts were classified as in boundaries of meaning, while designificative tendencies in six contexts were classified as out of the boundaries of meaning. To conclude, semiotics of translation could contribute to translators in literary translation. Moreover, a literary translator with an awareness of designificative tendencies could be sure about which designificative tendencies to resort to in a conscious manner when necessary besides how to avoid those tendencies in what way.

“Ara Nesil” which is mentioned first time in Turkish Literature by Mehmet KAPLAN, is stated as community remaining between second generation of Tanzimat Reform era and Servet-i Fünun. Members of Ara Nesil who continued their literary activities between 1880s and 1900s, are engaged in many areas such as poetry, novel, essay, criticism and translation. The other one of these areas is story. Specially after 1890s, story which started to find oneself as literary genre, enters change and development term in structure and theme. Thus, story awareness starts. Persons of story who live with their states and motions in story case and are taken their psych worlds as uniform, are slowly eluding these characteristics and enters in story with various characteristics which contain their psych worlds and characters. When examined stories which are written by “Ara Nesil” period writers, both long and short stories are seen. Even that, encountering traces of turning to short story in stories which were published in newspapers and journals of that period is possible. One of the important aspects of that period is giving works in story genre and contributing this genre by woman writers. This situation is intensively important in terms of existing in literature world and creating works by Turkish woman who were passive in many areas. One of the most notably story in “Ara Nesil” period is “Nevbahâr Yâhûd Saadet-i Aile” where were published many different writers hundreds of stories of copyright. This story is one story with two writers which was written in between 1880-1900 years and also has importance of its women writers.

The relationship that the poets establish with the object in their poems reflects a conscious choice in some specific examples. Following the stages of the relationship with the object allows us to discover different periods of the poet's poetry. These special objects can be changed from poet to poet. In the poet’s world of poetry this special object is always associated with different concepts and objects surely in different ways. This particular object can be an object of love or hate which is centered on poetry. The focussed object of this work is the weapon. In Sezai Karakoç’s poems in the book named Gün Doğmadan (Before Sunrise) weapons and the elements of war are repeated constantly. The weapon is generally referred to as a hated object. Karakoç collects weapons under two headings as firearms and traditional weapons in his poets. Firearms are symbolically used to represent the West and others while traditional weapons represent the East and I. The poet tries to eliminate and kill the firearms which he sees as the symbol of the others in his poetry. He also does this step by step. As far as we can determine weapons in the poems of Sezai Karakoç, it is an important object which has not been studied on a previous date and has been overlooked. The aim of this article is to determine how the poet approached as an object in the poems of Sezai Karakoç, to find the aspects of the poet's approach to the gun as an object that sheds light on his poetry in the context of the poet-poetry-object relation and to discover the main points of Karakoç poetry which are mentioned in the parenthesis of the gun, identify the original aspects of his poetry and the points where the other poets leave his poems focusing on the same subject and the same object, to detect as an object in Karakoç's poem, when the gun is processed, the poet is in line with tradition, to explore the phases of development of his poem in relation to the object perspective, the periods of his poetry in terms of his approach to the object and finally, in light of all these data to reveal the importance of the weapon as an hate object which is tried to be eliminated in Karakoç poetry.

While presenting the Poetry with elements such as meter, rhyme, sound, expression, rhythm, harmony etc. it cohesion to union as a result of these elements. In art criticism unity and wholness expressed with “organic unity”. Whole changes in poetry occurs first of all not in sight but in poet’s perception. Although nevertheless some claim that neurology will show how to occur these change and perception we are asserting that it will not come this day. Neurology will never solve the poetry. But showing of poet his perception and changes in poetry on paper give us possibility to reach some principles. With change in his poetry the poet invite us to travel in his mind. He shows how to edited his chaotic struct in his mind with changed the poetry on the paper. I a sense he give clues to the reader how to pacificate his chaotic internal structure with his logos. The change of the poetry will effect the elements that occur the wholness. The poetry’s interior and external structure elements such as meter, rhyme, sound, expression, rhythm, harmony etc. Will be effected from these changes. But it cannot be said that every change has the same effect in poetry. Some poems may have a positive effect on while others may have a negative effect. In every part of the great poetries see the effort to think about poetry and his poetry. This effort is often a result of reaching the highest quality. It can be seen that a poet engaged in such a process even in his highly acclaimed poems. Among the Turkish poets, it is possible to come across many poets who think and then make changes after publishing it on his poetry. One of these is perhaps Necip Fazıl Kısakurek, who has made the most changes on his poetry. This article is the result of an effort of Necip Fazıl to realize his changes in poetry into his logos.

Yusuf Ziya Ortaç, who stands out for his poetic and humorous works that he had during the time embracing the National Literature and post Republican periods, authored six novels. These novels fell behind his other works, which appeared in the form of poetry, drama, memoir, travel literature, and wit. These novels have had no greater impact than being a series of details that complements his literary career. It can be noticed that the author, who discussed various topics in each of his novels, preferred this form of literature to reflect his emotions and thoughts, and to keep up with the current literary issues of that time. These novels, which are also part of the image of Yusuf Ziya Ortaç, are as follows: Meşhedi Ankara’da (Meşhedi in Ankara), which is generally a humorous novel; Göç (Immigration), which is in the form of autobiography; Üç Katlı Ev (The Three-Storey House), a novel that explains the societal changes in family life upon a conflict of generations; İsmet İnönü: Bir Hayatın Romanı (Ismet Inonu: A Story of a Life), which is in the form of biography; Şeker Osman (Sweet Osman), a novel treating the theme of mercy which can also be seen in Tanzimat (a period in Turkish literature) narratives; and Kürkçü Dükkanı (The Furrier’s Shop) which is shaped by the theme of love. These novels not only reinforce his humorist author personality, but also reveal his social consciousness, reflect his own life, deal with the theme of love which is an important part of his poetry, and demonstrate the literary trends of his time. Since each has its own form and content, Yusuf Ziya Ortaç’s novels are initially analyzed separately in this study. Then, the form- and content-based parts in each of the novels are examined, and the overall picture drawn by this investigation is explained. It is also discussed whether the novels are written in such a form and content that integrate with the theme or not.

Language is an indispensable means of communication between people, on the other hand it is an essential tool for education and acquaintance of new things. An advanced language makes possible the recognition and expression of thoughts and feelings of people. Time by time, different languages have shared terms between each-others. Even though the relations between turks and Albanians date back much earlier than the Ottoman period, the genuine relations between these to peoples has been strengthened in the period of Ottoman rule. These peoples have been a part of a common system in a long time, therefore, as a result of this they have shared many things among themselves. The relationship of turks with albanians as with other Balkan nations has begun in the earlier periods than the Ottoman period, since the arrival of turks from the north of Black Sea. From this relationship these two peoples shared the same faith, as it was Islam, this has influenced to an increase of Turkish terms in Albanian language. The most frequent terms had to do with professional concepts as farming, kitchen, clothing, food etc. in general, things that represent the social life between these two peoples. In this modest work we will present the common words between Albanian and Turkish peoples by taking into account other works done before.

Proper names that can be counted as the patterns of the dynamism of the language contain in themselves the proper changes for their era while still being shaped through the effects of the past. By this means it can be said that the popular has a considerable influence on the naming tendencies and the reflections of this can be felt remarkably on a social scale. The derivational affix in Turkish is /+cı/ and it defines occupations such as otacı (herbalist), balıkçı (fisherman), sütçü(milkman), doğramacı (joiner), sirkeci (vinegar producer), sepetçi (basket maker). These names were used for years on signboards too however in parallel with the social and economic changes and the changes in fields of occupation naming traditions also transformed. These changes can be related with the area of commerce or service as well as the variety of the produced commodities and the areas of expertise for these commodities and it can also be explained with the effect of popular culture and approaches. In this research we tried to find the relations between the education statuses of the workplace owners and how it effects the name choice through survey and we also questioned how much information the workplace owner has on the name. Interview method was also used when necessary. Workplace names are handled grammatically and SPSS method is used for analyzing the numerical data. Descriptive approach was used for analyzing the business cards and other type of documents. The assessment of the workplace naming in Muş province Merkez region is more of a way of understanding the contemporary rather than a purist approach. While the acquired language material was put into light in the writing the aim was also to remind the vocabulary strength of the language.

INDIVIDUALS CONSUMING THEIR LIVES IN THE CONSUMPTION SOCIETY: EXAMPLES OF BAYRAM AND KUMRU

The consumption, that is carried out to meet the basic physiological needs of human beings, passes through various stages throughout history. For example, in these days which are described as the consumption era, consumption itself becomes a necessity. The continuous increase of production brings with consumption; thus, consumption turns into an obligation and individuals are surrounded by objects that they produce. In this fake abundance which is formed by an unlimited number of objects, individuals start to buy and consume without thinking whether they need it or not. In fact, individuals alienate both themselves and their society when they pursue an object. It is undoubted that the consumption which affects the age we are in, the personalities and the identities of individuals, takes place in literature. For example, Adalet Ağaoğlu, one of the women writers of twentieth century Turkish Literature, writes the life history of Bayram who has a passion for objects to gain a better position in the society, in her novel entitled Fikrimin İnce Gülü. Ağaoğlu accentuates that Bayram who wants to purchase a car, alienates from his environment day by day and also, she criticizes the spread of capitalist system. Tahsin Yücel, affects greatly his readers with his works, narrates the life of a young woman named Kumru who migrated from the village to the city in his novel entitled Kumru ile Kumru. Yücel notes that in the consumption era, objects lose their importance when they are obtained and this case pushes individuals to new searches. In this work, consumed lives of individuals who consume will be examined in Adalet Ağaoğlu’s novel entitled Fikrimin İnce Gülü and Tahsin Yücel’s novel entitled Kumru ile Kumru in the context of Jean Baudrillard’s The Consumer Society and The System of Objects.

Ali Shir Nevayi, who was born in Herat in 1441 and died in 1501 in the same city, is one of the greatest poets of Turkish literature. He is an example person in the shaping of the Chagatai Turkish and our classical literature. The number of his works is over thirty. He is also the first tazkira writer in our literature and the owner of the first khamsa. In a period and in a geography that the Persian was a literary language and, its consciousness is presented as a Turkish language advocate. His work, Muhakemetü’l-Lugateyn, which compares Turkish with Persian by the linguistic evidents, maintains its importance even today in term of philology. Ali Shir Nevayi is also the person who named the diwans written in the various periods of his life according to human life and added a life novel feature to his diwans. In this study, two works of Ali Shir Nevayi, Fevayidu’l-Kiber and Bedayi’ul-Vasat were well-scrutinized and metaphors of heaven and hell have been determined. As it is known, metaphor is the function of abstracting concepts from analogy, from level of thought to language level. Ontological metaphors of heaven and hell have a mystical meaning in the poems of Ali Shir Nevayi. He looks at these concepts as a sufi. For him, heaven is love, in other words, the feeling of reunification with God. There is no heaven, if there's no love in it. Hell is not a place to fear, according to him. The farewell, or being far from God, is worse and more burning than the dolor of hell. He is willing to stay for a thousand years in hell rather than a moment of being seperated. Ali Shir Nevâyi uses the metaphors of heaven and hell in the same verse as a comparison element. He strengthens the meaning while he benefits from the contrasts. In this study, metaphors which we think that are original, are being discussed. Ali Shir Nevâyi 's works should be considered in terms of metaphors in more comprehensive studies.

The poem described as the rengin, innovation and diversity, but it is a situation which will recognize the description of classical poetry. The reason for the emergence of such a state of classical poetry criticism is the belief that poetry should be well known tradition of classical poetry to understand the differences and innovation.
The war literature, as a branch of war propaganda, includes literary works produced war periods with its pre and post-war period. The literature of the wars, which have serious reflections in the Turkish literature, constitutes a corpus worthy of study. At this point, there are many articles in the Turkish press in order to clarify the nature of the concept of war literature and the relationships between war and literature. As far as we can see, it is seen that the first article on the concept of war literature was published in 1913, during the period of Balkan War. Later on, the articles continued to be published in the periods of First World War and Turkish National Struggle. Afterwards, it is understood that the debates on the war literature have revived due to the outbreak of the Second World War. At this point, in the articles published in the Turkish press about the war literature are argued the existence and absence of a war literature branch, as well as ideas on the characteristics of the Turkish war literature until 1941. It is also understood that the authors consider historical, social and literary backgrounds in the articles about the war literature; furthermore the prominent names of the period suggest important opinions about how the war literature should be. Therefore, it is a necessity to introduce and examine the articles written about the concept of war literature in the Turkish press in the period of 1913-1941. Thanks to the examination of the articles left on the dusty pages of the periodicals of the period, the approaches towards the role of literature on social life during war times are becoming more apparent. In this respect, we will emphasize the concept of war literature in the “Giriş” section of our article. Afterwards, under the title of “Türk Basınında Savaş Edebiyatı Tartışmaları (1913-1941)”, the articles of war literature will be summarized. The section of “Sonuç” contains the findings that we have reached as a result of the articles we reviewed.

The aim of the current paper is to highlight and analyze the publishing activity and periodical press of the ‘white Russians’ in Istanbul on the basis of a description of the certain material – the caricatures of a painter V.Kadulin (1883 – after 1950) in the almanac ‘Zarnitsy’ published in Constantinople in 1920s. The relevance of the given topic is defined by the place taken by caricatures in the illustrative highlighting of the daily as well as social-political aspects of emigrants’ life. Painter V.F.Kadulin was successful in demonstrating the information of events, phenomenon, processes and problems of the white emigration in foreign country as well as in Bolshevik Russia through his political and socio-everyday caricatures in a visual satiric image-artistic form.
The discipline that examines the way in which names are given, the meaning and the change they have undergone are called toponomy. Toponomy is a discipline where researchers and interested people from many fields work in our country. Although many researchers from various disciplines such as history, geography and especially literature put forward various works about the Turkish toponomy at the national and international scale the number of places where place names are not examined so far is quite high. Increasing the number of such studies; it will be proof to keep the history of our country alive and to preserve its cultural values. Tirebolu, which is one of the biggest and historical districts of Giresun, has 50 villages and 7 neighborhoods. All of these villages have their own names. The names of place names in the district, which had hosted different civilizations and different cultures in the past, have been used in different ways in the past years and have survived. The names of the place bear signs of the history, culture and ethnic identity of people living in the area. This is why Turkey decode the place names within its borders is important.
