In this article, the services of the Bektashi Community Presidency, which undertook the official representation of the Bektashis living in Albania as an accredited foundation in the Albanian state, were examined. The majority of materials in the archives constitute the topics that occupy the agenda of this institution on the financial and intellectual property. Human resources, administrative and inspection subjects follow these headings respectively. In the area of human resources, it summarizes the services of the heads of departments such as the appointment of grandfathers and dads to handle the tekke and its members, the evaluation of related complaints, the follow-up of personal rights. Administrative area provides information on savings, such as structuring the institution in Albania, meeting physical and logistical needs in the area. It is also possible to find materials that can be found in religious, cultural and social inferences. Special occasions, congratulations and in-service training activities that Bektashi tradition cares about constitute the archival materials of the Bektashi Community Presidency. Bektashi archives contain correspondence with a number of external and foreign institutions that we can evaluate in the context of external relations. The writings of both Bektashian traditions and the Bektashi organizations in those regions have been recorded. Relations with actors in world politics have also been developed, which also relate to the political atmosphere in Albania. It seems to be taken care to be in line with the current political authority in Albania. It is necessary to say that poetry written on Bektashism and literary type products are included in the archive content. A summary of biography of Prophet, a note on History of Bektashism, a case of Karbala were also prepared for educational purposes and took its place in the archive.

Medet Can has been one of those Zaza novel writers. His novel ‘the Journey of Soul (Berkerdena Zerri)’ was published in 2012. His novel’s central subject matters focus on the slum dwellers of Istanbul, who left their villages and cities because of various causes, and the effects of Turkish military coup of 1980. These slum dwellers’ segregation, alienation, economic deficiencies, language barriers, loss of sense of belonging, and nostalgia to their ‘lost heaven’ motherland have been described with the chaotic and anarchic atmosphere which ended up with the coup of 1980. Post-coup regime’s oppressive and repressive political system also has been presented to the attention of the readers. There is a love story in the background of these subjects. Moreover, the work takes its name from this love story and the work ends with a poem written by Şiyar who loves to the character of Zeynep.

Cyprus is an island having geographically and strategically importance. Its location both gives these features and leads to have an active history. There were always fights to dominate the island which was home to various states from time immemorial. Cyprus was taken from Venice during Selim II’s reign. It came under the domination of Turks as of this date. After centuries, England which had a conflict of interest with Russia rented Cyprus from Ottoman Empire and took annexation decision during the World War I. After the war, England gained full domination of the island. Thus, rough times began for the island and Turks in island. The Zurich and London Agreements were signed between three states, Turkey, Greece and England, in 1959 and bi-communal Republic of Cyprus was established at 16 August 1960. However, these progression did not change the attitudes of Greece and Rum people against Turks, Turk population in the island were tried to be exterminated and it was made every effort to do Enosis, that is to realize the annexation of the island by Greece. It was claimed that there were much more Rum people in the island, it was carried out massacres against Turks and this situation caused to tense the relations between Turkey-Greece frequently. Turkey went to diplomatic channels at times and sought to make decision of intervention on the island at times during these tensions. Yet the issue were calmed down partly by the engagement of USA but could not be resolved fully in general at these times. Nevertheless, the issues was never be settled down in Cyprus, Greece made effort to realize Enosis consistently, moreover, deactivated Rum leader Makarios who was seen as a handicap with a coup in this context. All these progressions made Turkey carry out the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation which would create deep reactions in domestic and foreign policies. Even so Turkey gained a victory in Peace Operation, Cyprus issue has never came to the conclusion completely because of the features of it and the attitude of Greece, there has been always problems even in more recent times. This study tries to clarify the subject by addressing the Cyprus issue in general terms within the period from domination of Turks to Peace Operation.

In a society, depreciative comprehension requires the use of correct concepts of depression and comprehension. The right concepts are the geological concepts that give the truth in a holistic way. They are closely related to the language used. To speak Turkish, to give earthquake information with other language concepts, and even to present some information in wrong and misleading contexts, prevents the understanding of the phenomenon. In short, it is the most appropriate method to explain the earthquake, the earthquake, the inhabitants of the earthquake, the earthquake, the earthquake, and the scientific concepts produced by the language scientists and linguists. Just as there are many areas of the world and human being, knowledge and consciousness development in the field of earthquakes (earthquake) has followed the mythology, religion and science process. It is often interpreted as a negative phenomenon because of its processes and consequences. Due to the fields it has affected, economic, political, religious, terrestrial, geologic and seismological explanations and interpretations have been made. However, geological (geological, geophysical) finds indicate that; earthquake is in fact a positive place for Earth and the living world. Motion can be a reproduction of terrestrial life, living spaces. In other words, if there are no earthquakes, earth can turn into a dead planet. Earthquake makes the earth livable. On the other hand, earthquakes are the usual, natural, unavoidable and permanent movements of the earth. This continuous and natural motion is totally comprehended, recognized, if understood, adverse consequences can be avoided and beneficial from its positive results. In a society, depreciative comprehension requires the use of correct concepts of depression and comprehension. To speak Turkish, to give earthquake information with other language concepts, and even to present some information in wrong and misleading contexts, prevents the understanding of the phenomenon. For reasons mentioned above, scientific truth of earthquake occurrence, earth science and earth science philosophy and concept of Turkish names and meanings were tried to be presented and suggestions were given in housing, building and settlement issues in order to avoid damage

This study examines the identity problem for the workers that turned back to Turkey. Starting from 1960s, lots of workers migrated to European countries as a solution to the problem of unemployment in Turkey. The migrants brought their families with them and got accustomed to living abroad. However statistics prove that a group of migrants returned back to Turkey. Migrants had many problems after return. Turks in Turkey excluded them from the society, mainly because their dialect was different. Eventually, an identity problem emerged for the returned migrants and they experienced a confusion and ambiguity concerning their origin. Although, these migrants shared the same ethnic origin with people living in Turkey, they experienced difficulties in adapting to their national culture. It has been seen that the Turkish migrant identity, which refer to the identity of returned Turks who migrated to European Countries, is not exactly Turkish identity or European identity, but it carries features from both. This migrant identity is an ambivalent identity, constituted of some of factors; Turkish migrants feeling like belonging to nowhere, them having a desire to live in Europe, and them to keep having religious values and feelings different than both Turks in Turkey and people in host countries. Some of the migrants adapted themselves to other cultures, and their interest to their traditional cultures decreased. Consequently, the concept of nation carries a different meaning for the returned migrants. This study examines, why and how the returned migrants became the other in their own countries.

Although birth- which is a rite of passage- is a biological phenomenon, it has certain ritual practices. The mother and the baby, who are believed to be unprotected, are put to protection through various religious/magical procedures. It was found that postnatal practices to protect the mother and the baby were still continuing in the villages of Dikili. This study considers changing postnatal practices. While it was found on considering those practices that traditional practices associated with Central Asia were continuing as coherent with Muslim traditions, it was also found that some of the traditions were changing. While traditional practices continuing from the past until the present, they underwent changes. Ease in communication and transport due to modernisation was observed to have caused changes in traditional practices Traditional methods of therapy began to change or to disappear with modernisation and especially with the replacement of some methods of therapy by modern medicine. Practices such as “salting” especially as a method of therapy for babies were on the other hand found to continue. This study analyses the postnatal practices differing from the past. For this purpose, data on post-natal practices were recorded in image and in sound by using the method of oral history. Then the recordings were decoded and were analysed in interpretivist paradigm. The study was conducted in some villages of Dikili in the period between July 14 and September 16, 2016.
The narrative, which is one of the basic elements of cultural life, forms one of the ways of understanding people and societies. As a narrative fairy tale form born from the need of people to tell stories, has been maintained for centuries by making adjustments in the forms of different media via adaptations. Today, the tale continues in novels, films and television series. Tales that constitute one of the building stones of our narrative culture have sometimes been sources of theme and sometimes the sources of formal elements of our narratives; for this reason tales have become the means of the intertextuality. One leg of Yeşilçam cinema forms popular literature adaptations. The tale structure has been carried to the cinema via popular literaray adaptations; the structure based on the repetition of similar molds reiterated itself in Yeşilçam Sinema until the 1980s. There is a continuity between tales, which is a part of oral tradition, and Yeşilçam tradition, in terms of tale patterns, narrative characteristics, tale-telling practices and social functions. Traditional verbal culture, with language characteristics, subjects, typologies and dominant values , has continued to live in Yeşilçam cinema with his anonymous properties. The Russian folklorist Vladimir Propp suggests that there are invariable motifs and patterns in tales. In this study, it is aimed to determine what kind of structural link there is between narrative structure of tales and of popular domestic films. For this purpose, in order to determine which motifs and functions were repeated in the tradition of tales continuing in Yeşilçam films, Ayşecik novel and Ayşecik film, adapted from this novel, have been analysed in terms of the structural functions that Propp dealt with in The Morphology of Tales.

Reflections of Sa‘dî’s Gülistân in Turkish Literature Gatherings

Gülistân, written by Sa‘dî in the name of Sa’d II, the descendant of Sultan of Salgur Ebûbekr bin Sa‘d bin Zengî, is a world famous literary work going beyond the Persian literature. Being organized in three sets as Dîbâce, 8 Bâb and Hâtime, the work comprises tales formed within the concepts of monarchy, saints, austerity, tranquility, love and youth, senescence and social decorum. As well as narration techniques such as past, folk tales, verses of Quran, hadiths, succinct expressions, proverbs and idioms, most of which are prose works studying ‘morals’, the work was also benefitted as a rhetoric and fluency book in Islamic universities being reinforced by several poem forms as couplet, verse, rubai and stanza. Being one of the foremost examples of advisory works, Gülistân has been regarded as among the main works of Turkish Literature tradition and has been translated, commented and glossaries prepared since the 14th century. In this work, reflections of Sa‘dî’s famous work Gülistân have been analyzed specific to literature gatherings, the position of the work in our literature with which peculiarities has been assigned and the outcomes of 185 literary scannings have been classified under main headlines. Divan poets, who regard Gülistân as a course book in poetry and prose writing as well as a consultant source in rhetoric and fluency, mostly resembled it to a lover regarding the word ‘gül’ in its content and ‘formal beauty and meaningfulness’ it involves. Besides, as Gülistân is a masterpiece, divan poets considered Sa‘dî as their rival or compared their works with Sa‘dî’s Gülistân while praising it or their own works.

“Yurttan Sesler” as a Folk Music Ensemble in the Context of Tradition and Modernity

In the coverage of this study, in the example of Yurttan Sesler, the concept of change of the ‘ideas’ has been discussed in the framework of the tradition and modernity. Not only the ethnomusicological dimension of the subject but also its anthropologic interpretation confirm that there is an intellectual ground of the systematic changes in the music. The interpretations here emphasis that the Anatolian music inventory has been shaped by means of a re-production which is fictionalized through the Yurttan Sesler as it serves a function in the transition of the tradition and modernity. Such re-production has both internal and external changes, however, it is not false within the fiction of the Yurttan Sesler as well. The chapters of the study have been written with a systematic principle which prepares a ground for an ethnomusicological deduction. The method of the article covers the self-reflexive language of the qualitative research method, its auto-ethnographic perspective and the native ethnographic opinion. This ethnographic study has been written by means of the interpretative approach in the meaning of the earmark of the ethnomusicological findings. The anthropological dimension of the subject discusses the concepts of tradition and modernity and the change of the ideas at the basis. The musical change, on the other hand, is related with the ethnomusicological area of the mentioned subject in question. In the study of the case analysis, the bases of the intellectual attitude at the point of outlet of the phenomenon of Yurttan Sesler are being interpreted by means of the acceleration of modernity. Yurttan Sesler came out in order to present the Anatolian folk music within a new structure and system, against the efforts which are made in order to create a nationalist polyphonic music. Until today, it is a folk music ensemble that created its own discipline and lobby in the context of performance and musical system along with four generations. As a conclusion, it is observed that every generation of the Yurttan Sesler which interpreted the Anatolian folk music in its new authenticity performed the folk music performance based on the different ideas in the frame of the change and modernity

Considering people's resources will be exhausted, planning of consumption for future generations, the rational management of the relation of human and nature can only be explained with sustainability. Compatibility of environmental policies implemented and drawn up for future with development strategies are regarded as sustainable development. Goals of valuing its rural potential by actively participating in the social and economic life, making use of it by protecting it and of increasing life quality of the people living there refer to the sustainable rural development. As the natural environment features of the Erbaa District, the transition climate through which the Black Sea effect is clearly seen due to Yeşilırmak valley, and the advantages of moderate climate conditions related to low altitude on the economic activities to be carried out support animal husbandry. These climate features lead to long vegetation period that contributes to the animal husbandry by allowing several harvests per year. Existence of low pitched lands and tablelands with loam and grazing land provides a suitable environment for animal husbandry. The fact that the district of Erbaa applies gene resource on Karayaka sheeps, years of accumulation of knowledge and experience, animal potential from past to present, economic activities performed on fertile soils, studies conducted regarding animal husbandry, supportive investments, and policies applied and rural population in Erbaa support animal husbandry considerably as human environment features. The place where people who will make use of this high potential confront with is livestock market. The stated high potential and extent of the impact area increase the contribution to the sustainable rural development. Due to its stated importance, the relationship between Erbaa's livestock potential and its livestock market having more advantages than its surroundings with its qualities has been addressed.

Film noir movies reflect the economic, cultural and political inconsistencies and difficulties of the social structure in which they are situated and social explosions on the movie screen. Film noir movies reflect the economic, cultural and political inconsistencies and difficulties of the social structure in which they are situated and social explosions on the movie screen. In Turkey, cinema is heavily influenced by social reality, social and political events and thus daily life. Economic crises and breakdowns in social harmony find a place in movies. Examination of films in which such difficulties are reflected shows that there are film noir narratives focusing on stories about crime and characters who reckon with themselves because of the evilness they cannot avoid under the dominance of high cinematography. In film noir, the style determines the theme. Film noir has a remarkable place in the history of film-making as a subgenre that has managed to offer cinematographic insight to a sociological problem. The close contact that the filmography of Nuri Bilge Ceylan has recently established with the film noir narratives in New Turkish Cinema has caused this genre to be discussed again. In this regard, Nuri Bilge Ceylan has brought meaning to the country, his main spatial focus, using a familiar style and used at the same time the visual style of film noir, which aesthetizes the film, when telling the story of a night of crime in Anatolia. The relationship between the films of Nuri Bilge Ceylan and the style and then the theme that is associated with them in general is shaped by the aesthetics of film noir in Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da (Once Upon A Time In Anatolia). This study will discuss the place of the intensive and thematic style in Bir Zamanlar Anadolu’da in Turkish cinema from the film noir perspective using genre and sociological criticism.

The conflicts between spouses are among the subjects which have been mostly discussed recently. Regarding the nature of marriage, there are factors that lead to conflicts in every togetherness. The new, modern nuclear family editing have produced several differences and new criteria. As a result of the social change that has been experienced, the traditional norms assigned to woman are questioned more and an egalitarian family structure is trying to be adopted due to the fact that both males and females have entered the working life evenly. With this social change which is available in our society, the factors leading to conflict have been transformed like extended family’s converting into nuclear family. This study aims at discussing the new conflict problems that ocur in the family together with the social change. It is expected to attract attention towards analyzing the background of the problems having been experienced with the change and how to prevent these problems. Observation and data research has been adopted as method. The earlier studies on this field have been collected, available findings have been evaluated and the factors leading to conflict between spouses have been given importance by commenting with our opinions related to the subject. It is possible to summarise family problems as Psycho-social, socio-economic, psycho-socio-technological, parent-child relationships and sexual problems. Family member’s freedom, socio-economic indepence, and individualization tendencies create intrafamilial lack of communication as unfamiliar new criteria in Turkish family structure and this situation leads to conflicts. That family members can not show the courage in order to talk to each other clearly about their thoughts, needs and expectations, they do not need to get guidance service for the solutions of their problems, they can not restrict their high demands based on opportunity and dissatisfaction, they can not use their abilities of solidarity, incorporation, and tolerance in a balanced way embitters the conflicts. Spouses’ supporting family life rather than independency of their working lives and economic incomes, contributing to making a right decision instead of bringing themselves and their education levels to forefront and telling the last word, conscious consumption according to the needs instead of extravagance and show off based on the technological developments in spendin culture, collective consciousness and dominating understanding of satisfaction together rather than individual demand and satisfaction about sexual subjects will decrease the conflicts between the spouses and increase family tranquility

Turkish Nation, which has nearly 5 thousand years’ history, has spread throughout the world, established many states under various names, and has had a rich and long-established culture. Kutadgu Bilig constitutes one of the milestones of this rich and long-established culture. Based on the definition suggesting that the “nation is the appearance of the experiences of a common culture and past history”, we found it necessary to investigate the Kutadgu Bilig, which was written by Yusuf Has Hacib, who himself guided the Turkish Culture in many fields for centuries, in terms of eating morals and culture, because Turks, who spread to many geographical areas from Turkistan to Anatolia, formed a rich eating culture thanks to their long historical background and accumulated knowledge. In transferring these values to future generations, Kutadgu Bilig is a bedside book. However, although it has been translated into many languages, it still has the quality of being a hidden treasure. Reşit Rahmeti Arat, who first compiled and translated Kutadgu Bilig into Turkish, said “When the Turkish youth understands this book, Turkey will be saved”. The purpose o f this study is to make a compilation on Kutadgu Bilig, which is one of the masterpieces of the Turkish Cultural history, in terms of Turkish eating morals and culture. In this context, the couplets on Turkish eating morals and culture in Kutadgu Bilig were determined, and these couplets were evaluated in a manner that would constitute the resource for our study. The study is in the review model, and has been conducted with document review method

Values are general provisions that direct the attitudes and behavior of individuals. Values have a great proposition in all decisions and preferences that the individual receives throughout his or her life. Values are an important part of the individual's personality structure. The source of values is one of the important areas of study that occupy the world of science. But it was not easy for the values to be included in the field of science. The Enlightenment rejects any invisible and untested experience. As a result, philosophy and other branches of science were distant from the values. The world of science has long thought that values are the means by which individuals are burdened by objects, so it is not possible to attribute value to information and objects. However, the role of both the individual and the society has become a matter of debate about the formation of values. As a result, the psychology and sociology of science as well as many branches of science have also caused interest in value. It is difficult to understand the values. There are also different approaches to the source of values. Therefore, it is also difficult to make a compromised definition of values. The study, which came out of these difficulties, aims to make a general assessment of the philosophical, psychological and sociological perceptions of values and the sources of values.

Weaving art, an important branch of traditional handicrafts, is one of the oldest works of human beings in the historical process. Weaving, which is a cultural value, is a socio-cultural element that develops in connection with the socio-economic conditions of the societies in which they are produced and sustains its continuity throughout generations. Weavings differ from region to region by factors such as climatic conditions, flora, easy and economical acquisition of raw materials. Weavings showing locally diversified textures in the traditional structure reflect the rich spiritual inner worlds of people, their characteristic structures, their vision of world, and their aesthetic conceptions. Weaving art, coming forward with a uniqueand sometimes with the common features of Anatolia, has rich samples. This situation also finds a place for itself in the weavings made in the Azerbaijani region. Among the textile handicrafts, Azerbaijani weaving samples, which have a privileged place with aesthetic, perception color, motif and composition harmony, are also present in various institutions and organizations as it is in the museum today.
The notion of Authenticity is evaluated in the flow of historical process through varies of its aspects. The notion of authenticity can be translated as an ethic and values systems but in some places it can be also evaluated as a meaning of trust, selfdom or reality. Reorganizing the big data, deeply detailed researches, trying new methodologies, correlating the things like as diverse theory, discipline or methods can be also the translation of authenticity. In cinema studies the matter of authenticity was born during 1950s. After the second world war ın the some cinema flows were occurred in France, Italy and Latin America as the new waver, new realism and independent cinema. This flows were de symbols of rupture of industrialized production of cinema.
Şevket Dağ is one of the most important painters of Turkish painting. Just like Süleyman Sayyit is known for his still life paintings, Feyhaman Duran for his portraits, Nazmi Ziya for his landscapes, Şevket Dağ is famous for portraying the interior of our historical monuments. Şevket Dağ’s life is in the period that was a turning point for Turkish painting. His path crossed with Hüseyin Zekai Pasha, Şeker Ahmet Ali Pasha and Osman Hamdi who are practitioners of classical and academic style in the Ottoman Empire and the pioneering names of the impressionist style such as İbrahim Çallı, Hikmet Onat, Feyhaman Duran and Nazmi Ziya. The stagnation and the use of the line in the artist's compositions evoke the characteristics of academic art and the use of color, impressionist style. The artist, whom we encountered in the Pera / Beyoğlu Exhibitions held in 1902, has participated in almost all the mixed exhibitions opened in Istanbul and Ankara for a lifetime with a number of works. Since the Ottoman Painters Society founded in 1909, he has continued his art life under the same roof with the members of the Turkish Painters Society and the Fine Arts Association. The painter’s style, if his contemporary Vicen Arslanyan’s productions are put aside, is almost unique. With the occasional still life and scenery productions of Mr. Şevket, historical mosque, inn and bazaar lives are the main themes of his canvases. Critics' approach to the work of the artist, in almost every exhibition he presents the same subjects and the same style, constitutes the main content of this work. As many as possible periodicals have been examined and attempts have been made to reach the writings dealing with his work and the exhibitions that the artist attended. Criticisms on his works have been examined and to gain a broader perspective on art life has been aimed.

The word environment has a very wide area of usage. In this sense, environment is the name given to all living and stagnant entities surrounding us. Environment is a living organism that is constantly going through changes as man both affects it and is affected by it. Therefore, the word environment is also too variant to be limited to just the natural environment. Environmental awareness is important because every entity that forms the environment is regarded as a mirror of God's names and attributes. There are three important subjects embraced by the mystic culture. These are Allah, universe and man. Mystic culture establishes integrity between Allah, universe and man. Therefore, mysticism is the philosophy of love and integration. According to the Sufis belonging to the unity of existence school and in the concept of perfect human approach, man is the highest degree addressee of Allah and a manifestation of His divine names and titles. So in this sense, mysticism deems all living and stagnant, conscious and unconscious entities that constitute environment as a mirror of Allah’s divine names and titles. As each entity constituting the environment is deemed to be the mirror and reflection of Allah’s divine names and titles, the concept of environment is highly important in mysticism. At this point, it is worth saying that there is an important connection between mystic concepts and approach and environmental awareness. With this in mind, this article is discussing the environmental awareness in mystic culture, from a mystic concepts perspective. There is an important semantic connection between environmental awareness and the mystic concepts of piety, ecstasy, destination, destitution, joining, ability and observation, asceticism and seclusion, wisdom and accounting.

Ideological Manipulation in Audiovisual Translation

“All translation implies a degree of manipulation of the source text for a certain purpose”, “Translation is political act”, “Translation cannot be thought apart from ideology” statements like these might sound assertive. But when we think of real life practices, we see that they are more realistic than the illusion that translations are done objectively or that translators do not manipulate the target text while translating. In this study, we tried to investigate the fact that a hundred percent objective translation is not possible, and we also studied the actors and factors that influence the translation activity in the translation process and play an important part in shaping the final target text based on audiovisual translation texts. As the theoretical framework, we used Skopos theory developed by Hans Vermeer and Katharina Reiss. We tried to show that for which function translation text to be used is a determining factor, and the existence of certain elements which direct translation. As a result, we have seen that there are some manipulative elements in the translation of the audiovisual texts, as in every translation, and that translators resort to some methods to manipulate the texts. The main elements directing the translation activity are the employer, the translator, the society and the state. Translators resort to four major manipulation methods to manipulate the text in the translation of the film texts as it is in literary translation. These are omission, adding, substitution and toning down or softening. Such manipulative and censorial practices are not only specific to totalitarian, repressive regimes. Liberal and democratic governments also resort to such practices.

Mother Earth in Âşik Veysel’s Poets

Âşık (poet-singer) Veysel, whose real name is Veysel Şatıroğlu (1894-1973), relates human beings and their problems in his poets in universal sense. Âşık Veysel wrote poets about many issues such as the nature, affection for homeland, homesickness, fraternity, national unity and solidarity, and earth is one his most favorite themes. Âşık Veysel was blind, but added meaning to life through his heart and he virtually devoted his life to the earth. He, therefore, ascribes a different meaning to the earth / mother earth in his poems. He sang folk songs about the earth at each phase of his life and regarded the earth as a shelter for human activities based on thoughts, narratives, and actions. In Âşık Veysel's poets, the earth virtually invites people to facts that they always avoid because the earth is the mythological space for rebirth, taking roots, change, and transformation. Âşık Veysel's objective was to relate the world that mankind built on the earth in the ontological sense and their philosophy of self-perception through words and melodies. The earth is always with us from birth to death and it is like a mother who nurtures, protects, and transforms all living creatures. Every person cultivating land, in a sense, dominates the nature and introduces his or her own awareness to history of mankind because he or she bears witness to the centuries-old historical and cultural heritage. Aşık Veysel's earth has a sacredness on which he dreamt of building heaven on the Earth. Âşık Veysel attempts to tell us that we should preserve values in this world where we exist based on the theme of soil; we will return to our origins, and that we should not forget unity, solidarity, and affection as the children of the mother earth.
It is well known that Sufi thought in Ottoman era was closely linked to Anatolia and Balkans. Despite the varying social, political, geographical, economic and cultural conditions of the time, the Sufi line did not change: The themes in Ahmad Yassawi’s poetry were repeated by Yunus Emre and the same message was echoed in Edirne, Sofia, Skopje, Belgrade and Bosnia, thanks to the efforts of hundreds of Sufis. In the 13th century, Haji Bektash Wali’s ideas were being transferred to Oghuz social units namely oymaks, ashirats and obas, while the proponents of the same ideas arrived in Balkans. The rise of this tradition in Balkans is concurrent with its advance in Anatolia. Gulbaba was a very famous Sufi in Balkans and finally became a martyr in the Battle of Buda during the reign of Suleiman I. This paper deals with the life of Gulbaba and his place in Balkan Bektashism and includes a content analysis of his “Fayznamah-e Misal-e Gulbaba” with a focus on the traces of Bektashism in it. The work in question is remarkable for describing the tenets of Hurufi doctrine and for its plain literary style. There are only two academic works on this opus and they are limited to translation and textual study. It is believed that concerning his reputation in Balkans and the rest of the Ottoman lands during the reign of Suleiman I and the fact that he is still much more popular in Hungary than he is in Turkey, the information on Gulbaba needs to be presented in an organized manner and his impact on Balkan Bektashism needs to be uncovered. Making a content analysis of “Fayznamah-e Misal-e Gulbaba” and introducing the details of Gulbaba’s ideas to the academic community are also important tasks. The aim of this paper is to categorize, classify and perform text analysis on the topics dealt with in Gulbaba’s opus and to show Gulbaba’s influence in the Balkans. Hence, this paper is a piece of qualitative research. The data is collected through document analysis method and then examined further. The paper reveals that Gulbaba is well-known in the Balkans and especially in Hungary, he is still loved, paid respect and followed as an example by Bektashis, his tomb is visited by a considerable number of people both from Balkan countries and from outside of Balkans and that in his opus, he tackles in verse, topics such as the secrets of man’s creation, the purpose of man’s creation and the tenets of Islam.
