After “Tanzimat Fermani” in 1839 in Turkey, we observe the emergence of different types of people with different life styles and cultural values. The psychological novel of Namik Kemal entitled Intibah, attaches great importance in terms of demonstrating such types of people who display different characteristics both psychologically and morally. Throughout the novel the unfavorable type of woman is represented by Mehpeyker and the ideal type of woman is represented by Dilasub. Although Mehpeyker is rich in physical beauty, she is morally corrupted and this corruption is most apparent in her unchasteness. Dilasub is idealized by her physical and moral characteristics and what makes her ideal is her loyalty. Namik Kemal through his novel suggests that the real beauty lies in the moral characteristics of a woman, not in the physical appearance.

Floating islands arouse the attention of the scientists with their various featuers. Primarily, they can be distinguished from their environment with their rich flora and fauna. Since they generally emerge in the lakes as wetlands they always keep the eyes of the people on themselwes. These wetlands are also the most suitable places to observe the corruptions in the ecosystem both by natural and homone factors. Not only the optimum mixture of inorganic and organic minerals under the favorable climatic circumstances are taking places in these marshes, but also dense and rich wetland plants grow in these places due to phosphate that takes place in inorganic minerals and nitrate taken from the atmosphere. In our country, the number of the cities having floating islands is 8. but in various districts of our country there are anumber of marshes and wetlands in various sizes. So, since the researches expand, the number of floating islands wiil grow. An example to the recently discovered floating islands is Ahmediye Floating Island. Having been in the territory of Erzincan City. Ahmediye Floating Island have many different features. At the some time, it is biggest floating island known not only in our country but also in the world. Another interesting point related to this island is; although it is very close to the city centre of Erzincan, it has not been realized or discovered by the people. Even the the residents of the Ahmetli (Ahmediye) village in which this floating island exists do not have any information about it. This acpects did not escape notice dwing our researches in the region. On the other hand, the villagers interfere the ecosystem of the lake in which the floating island takes place; by opening a canal on the South side of the lake in order to prevent the expansion of the lake when the water level rises.
