Eyyûbîler, XII-XIII. yüzyıllar arasında Orta Doğu’nun geniş bir coğrafyasında- Mısır, Mezopotamya, Şam, Hicaz, Yemen ve Kuzey Afrika’da- hâkimiyet sürmüş bir İslâm devletidir. Eyyûbîler İslâm dünyasının birliğini sağlama çabaları ve Haçlı seferlerine karşı askeri başarıları ile öne çıkmış, siyasî alanın yanı sıra kültür ve bilim alanında da önemli izler bırakmıştır.

Eyyûbîlerin ilmî ve kültürel faaliyetlerini en yoğun bir şekilde sürdürdüğü yerlerden birisi Mısır’dır. Mısır, söz konusu dönemde siyasî, askerî ve ekonomik bir merkez olmanın yanı sıra bilimsel ve kültürel etkinliklerin de önemli bir odağı haline gelmiştir. Eyyûbîler, İslâm dünyasında temel eğitim kurumları olan medreselerin inşasına Mısır’da özel bir önem vermiş ve özellikle fıkıh alanındaki çalışmalarla hukukî düşüncenin gelişimine ve kurumsallaşmasına önemli katkılarda bulunmuşlardır.

Bu çalışma, Fâtımî hakimiyetinin ardından Eyyûbîler döneminde (12-13. yüzyıllar) Mısır'da Hanefî mezhebinin yayılım sürecini, hukukî ve kurumsal gelişimini incelemektedir. Araştırma, özellikle Şiî hukukunun hâkim olduğu bir coğrafyada Sünnî hukuk sisteminin yeniden inşası ve dönüşümü sürecine odaklanmakta, bu dönüşümün sosyo-politik dinamiklerini, kurumsal yapıların şekillenme sürecini ve Hanefî mezhebinin bölgedeki kurumsal kimlik kazanım sürecini analiz etmektedir.

Bu bağlamda araştırmada, Eyyûbîler döneminde Hanefî mezhebinin gelişimi tarihî ve ilmî bir perspektifle ele alınarak, mezhebin Mısır’daki etkileri ve dönemin İslam hukuk tarihindeki yeri değerlendirilecektir. Zira Şafiilik devletin resmî mezhebi olsa da Hanefîlik de sultanların desteğiyle önemli bir gelişim göstermiştir. Daha önce Mâlikî ve Şâfiî mezheplerinin hâkim olduğu Mısır’da, Hanefî mezhebi de giderek görünür hâle gelmiş ve fıkıh eğitiminde önemli bir yer edinmiştir.

The Ayyubids were an Islamic state that ruled over a vast geography in the Middle East during the 12th-13th centuries - including Egypt, Syria, Mesopotamia, Hidjaz, Yemen, and North Africa. The Ayyubids stood out for their efforts to ensure the unity of the Islamic world and their military successes against the Crusades, leaving significant marks not only in the political sphere but also in culture and science.

Egypt was one of the primary locations where the Ayyubids conducted their most intensive scientific and cultural activities. During this period, Egypt became not only a political, military, and economic center but also a crucial focal point for scientific and cultural activities. The Ayyubids paid special attention to establishing madrasas (educational institutions) in Egypt and made significant contributions to the development and institutionalization of legal thought, especially in the field of fiqh.

This study examines the spread, legal development, and institutionalization of the Ḥanafī school of law in Egypt during the Ayyubid period (12th–13th centuries), following the end of Fāṭimid rule. The research focuses particularly on the reconstruction and transformation of the Sunni legal system in a region previously dominated by Shīʿī jurisprudence. It analyzes the socio-political dynamics of this transformation, the formation of legal institutions, and the process by which the Ḥanafī school gained institutional recognition in the region. In this context, the study approaches the development of the Ḥanafī school during the Ayyubid era from both historical and scholarly perspectives, assessing its influence in Egypt and its place within the broader history of Islamic law. Although the Shāfiʿī school was the official madhhab of the state, the Ḥanafī school experienced significant growth with the support of the sultans. In Egypt—where Mālikī and Shāfiʿī schools had previously prevailed—the Ḥanafī school gradually became more prominent and secured an important position in legal education.
