Arketip kavramı, Carl G. Jung tarafından ortaya atılan ve insan psikolojisinin derinliklerinde yer alan ilkörnek, ilk modeller olarak tanımlanır. Edebî metinlerin arketipsel sembolizm yöntemiyle çözümlenmesi, eserlerin derin yapısını ortaya koymada yaygın olarak kullanılan yaklaşımlardan biridir. Bu çalışmada, Fatih Gezer’in Ölüler Kıraathanesi adlı romanı arketipsel sembolizm yöntemi çerçevesinde incelenmiştir. Yazar, bu romanıyla 2021 yılında “Vedat Türkali İlk Roman Ödülü”nü almaya hak kazanmıştır. Roman, ikinci bölümünde tüm karakterlerin Muhsin tarafından gerçekleştirilen bir cinayete kurban gitmesiyle başlayan trajik bir olay etrafında şekillenir. Sonraki bölümlerde ise karakterlerin cinayet gününe kadar geçen süreçte yaşadıkları aşk ilişkileri, umutları ve hayal kırıklıkları, kıskançlıkları ve karanlık yönleri geriye dönüş tekniği aracılığıyla ele alınır. Romanın inceleme için seçilmesinin temel nedeni, eserin arketipsel sembolizm açısından zengin bir anlatı yapısı sunmasıdır. Ayrıca romanın görece yeni bir eser olması ve arketipsel sembolizm bağlamında daha önce incelemeye konu edilmemesi de bu çalışmanın özgünlüğünü ve literatüre katkısını önceler. Romanın arketipsel çözümlemesinde yüce bilge, gölge, persona, asi, soytarı ve yetim-öksüz arketipleri esas alınmıştır. Eserde söz konusu arketiplerin hem karakterler aracılığıyla hem de belirli durum ve ilişkiler üzerinden görünür hâle geldiği tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmada arketipler bağlamında gerçekleştirilen söylem analizi ve karakter yorumları, romanın tematik ve sembolik kodlarının çözümlenmesine katkı sağlamış; eserin insan psikolojisine ve kolektif bilinç dışına ilişkin çok katmanlı yapısını ortaya koymuştur.
The concept of the archetype, introduced by Carl G. Jung, is defined as primordial images or original models embedded in the depths of the human psyche. The analysis of literary texts through the method of archetypal symbolism is one of the commonly employed approaches for revealing the deep structures of literary works. In this study, Fatih Gezer’s novel Ölüler Kıraathanesi (Turkish-coffeehouse of The Dead), is examined within the framework of archetypal symbolism. With this novel, the author was awarded the “Vedat Türkali First Novel Award” in 2021. The narrative of the novel is structured around a tragic event that begins in its second section, where all the characters fall victim to a murder committed by Muhsin. In the subsequent sections, the characters’ love relationships, hopes and disappointments, jealousy, and darker aspects are explored through flashbacks that recount the events leading up to the day of the murder. The primary reason for selecting this novel for analysis is that it presents a narrative structure rich in archetypal symbolism. Furthermore, the relative novelty of the work and the fact that it has not previously been examined within the context of archetypal symbolism enhance the originality of this study and its potential contribution to the existing literature. In the archetypal analysis of the novel, the archetypes of the wise old man, shadow, persona, rebel, jester, and orphan are taken as the main analytical categories. It has been determined that these archetypes become visible in the work both through the characters themselves and through particular situations and relationships. The discourse analysis and character interpretations carried out within the framework of these archetypes contribute to the interpretation of the thematic and symbolic codes of the novel and reveal the multilayered structure of the work in relation to human psychology and the collective unconscious.
