Depresyon bireyin düşünme şeklini, davranışlarını ve duygularını olumsuz yönde etkileyen yaygın ve ciddi bir hastalıktır. Depresyonun bu olumsuz etkilerine rağmen dünyada en çok tedavi edilebilen ruhsal bozukluklar arasında yer almaktadır. Dünya genelinde yapılan araştırmalarda ve klinik uygulamalarda depresyonun teşhis edilmesi amacıyla en yaygın kullanılan araçlardan birinin Beck Depresyon Envanteri-II olduğu görülmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı Beck Depresyon Envanteri-II’nin öğretmen adayları üzerinde güvenirliğini ve geçerliğini yapmaktır. Araştırma nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeline göre yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada ilk olarak envanterin dil eşdeğerliğine ilişkin çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Envanterin dil eşdeğerliği İngilizce Öğretmenliği programındaki öğretmen adayları üzerinde yapılmıştır. Dil eşdeğerliğine ilişkin bulgular incelendiğinde envanterin Türkçe formu ile İngilizce (Orijinal) formu arasındaki korelasyonun yüksek düzeyde ve anlamlı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Envanterin nihai hali Eğitim Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 208 öğretmen adayına uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler Açımlayıcı ve Doğrulayıcı Faktör Analizine tabii tutulmuştur. Envanterin Açımlayıcı Faktör Analizine ilişkin bulguları incelendiğinde orijinal formdaki madde sayısını koruduğu ve envantere ait toplam varyansın %57.3’ünü açıkladığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, bulgular ölçeğin Türkçe formunun yedi boyuttan oluştuğunu göstermektedir. Envanterin yapı geçerliğine ilişkin elde edilen veriler Doğrulayıcı Faktör Analizi ile test edildiğinde, yedi faktörlü yapısına ilişkin uyum indekslerinin kabul edilebilir düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu araştırmanın bulguları sonucunda Türkçeye uyarlaması yapılan Beck Depresyon Envanteri-II’nin öğretmen adaylarının depresif belirtilerinin teşhis edilmesi amacıyla güvenilir ve geçerli bir ölçme aracı olduğu söylenebilir.

Depression is a common and serious disease that negatively affects an individual's way of thinking, behavior and emotions. Despite these negative effects of depression, it is among the most treatable mental disorders in the world. Beck Depression Inventory-II is one of the most widely used tools for diagnosing depression in research and clinical practice around the world. The purpose of this study is to make the reliability and validity of the Beck Depression Inventory-II on pre-service teachers. The research was conducted according to the survey model, one of the quantitative research methods. Firstly, language equivalence studies of the inventory were conducted in the study. The language equivalence of the inventory was examined on pre-service teachers in the English Language Teaching program. When the findings on language equivalence were examined, it was determined that the correlation between the Turkish form of the inventory and the English (Original) form was significantly high. The final form of the inventory was applied to 208 pre-service teachers studying at the Faculty of Education. The data obtained were subjected to Explanatory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis. When the findings of the inventory regarding Exploratory Factor Analysis were examined, it was determined that it preserved the number of items in the original form and explained 57.3% of the total variance of the inventory. In addition, the findings show that the Turkish form of the scale consists of seven dimensions. When the data obtained regarding the construct validity of the inventory was tested with the Confirmatory Factor Analysis, it was seen that the fit indices for the seven-factor structure of the inventory were at an acceptable level. As a result of this research, it can be said that Beck Depression Inventory-II is a reliable and valid scale in order to diagnose the depressive symptoms of pre-service teachers.
