Sosyal bilgiler dersi öğrencilerin akademik başarısı ile çevre ve topluma uyumunun sağlanması ve demokratik bir toplum oluşturulması açısından çok önemlidir. Sosyal bilgiler dersinin bireysel ve toplumsal amaçlarına ulaşabilmesi uygulamadaki etkililiğine bağlıdır. Sosyal bilgiler dersinin uygulamadaki etkililiğinde ise öğretmenler esas unsurdur. Sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının meslekleri hakkında sahip oldukları düşünceler onların öğretmenlik meslek hayatını yönlendirmede büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adaylarının branş ve mesleklerine yönelik görüşlerinin belirlenmesi ve öğretim sürecinin bu doğrultuda şekillendirilmesi önemlidir. Bu görüşten hareketle çalışmada, öğretmen adaylarının sosyal bilgiler dersi ve sosyal bilgiler öğretmenine ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın katılımcıları 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılında bir devlet üniversitesinde 3.sınıfta eğitim almakta olan 62 öğretmen adayından oluşmaktadır. Nitel araştırma modeline göre tasarlanan çalışmada veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler nitel araştırma yöntemlerine uygun şekilde belirlenen temalar altında toplanmış ve temalarda yer alan kodlar frekansları ile birlikte tablolar halinde gösterilmiştir. Analizler sonucu elde edilen bulguların yorumlanmasında öğretmen adayı görüşlerinden doğrudan alıntılara da yer verilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda; öğretmen adayları sosyal bilgiler dersinin vatandaşlık bilinci/milli bilinç aşılaması, duyarlı ve saygılı bireyler yetiştirmesi noktasında önemine işaret etmişlerdir. Ayrıca sosyal bilgiler derslerinin; etkinliklerle zenginleştirilerek, teknoloji destekli materyaller kullanılarak, somut ve hayatın içinden örnekler verilerek ve eğitici oyunlar oynatılarak eğlenceli bir şekilde yapılması gerekliliğini ifade etmişlerdir. Öğretmen adaylarına göre sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni; iletişim becerisi ve düzgün bir diksiyona sahip, anlayışlı, çağdaş, yeniliklere açık, teknolojiyi kullanabilen, kendini ve bilgilerini sürekli yenileme becerisine sahip olmalıdır.

Social studies lesson is very important in terms of academic success of students and their harmony with the environment and society, and on the other hand, for the creation of a democratic society. The achievement of social studies course's individual and social goals depends on its effectiveness in practice. Teachers are the main factor in the effectiveness of social studies course in practice. Considering that the opinions of social studies teacher candidates will be effective in guiding their teaching profession, it is important to determine the opinions of social studies teacher candidates on their branches and professions and to shape the teaching process accordingly. In this context, it was aimed to determine the opinions of social studies teacher candidates about social studies course and social studies teacher. Participants of the study consisted of 62 teacher candidates who were studying in the 3rd grade at a state university in the 2018-2019 academic year. In the study, which was designed according to the qualitative research model, the data were collected with a semi-structured questionnaire. In the study, data were collected under various themes in accordance with qualitative research methods, and analyzed and evaluated using quantitative techniques. Direct quotations are also included in the interpretation of the findings obtained from the analysis. In the results of working; teacher candidates pointed out the importance of social studies course in instilling awareness of citizenship / national consciousness and raising sensitive and respectful individuals. They also stated that Social Studies lessons should be done in an entertaining way by doing in-class and extracurricular activities, using technology-supported materials, and playing educational games. According to prospective teachers, social studies teacher; must have communication skills and a proper diction, understanding, contemporary, open to innovations, able to use technology, and have the ability to constantly renew himself and his knowledge.
