Türkiye’de eğitime dair yükseköğretim; lisans, yüksek lisans ve doktora düzeyinde yapılmaktadır. Bunlardan yüksek lisans ve doktora lisansüstü eğitim olup, eğitim bilimleri veya sosyal bilimler enstitüsü bünyesinde, danışman/lar eşliğinde hazırlanan tezlerin savunulmasıyla neticelenmektedir. Tez savunma jürileri çoğu zaman tez danışmanın tercihiyle belirlenmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Türkiye'deki Sosyal Bilgiler eğitimi alanındaki yüksek lisans ve doktora tezlerinin tez savunma jürilerinin oluşturulmasında tez danışmanlarının jüri seçimini betimsel anlamda incelemektir. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizinin kullanıldığı çalışmada veri toplama süreci ve analizi; Sosyal bilgiler eğitimi alanında dair tezleri tarama, örneklemi belirleme, veri işleme, veri analizi olmak üzere dört aşamadan oluşmuştur. 1227 yüksek lisans ve 84 doktora tez çalışması danışmanlarına, üniversitelere ve danışmanların tez yaptırma sayılarına göre gruplandırılarak incelenmiştir. Sosyal Bilgiler eğitimi alanında yapılan tüm tezlerin evreni oluşturduğu çalışmada verileri anlamlı kılmak amacıyla amaçlı örneklemelerden ölçüt örnekleme kullanılarak, 4 ve üzeri sayıda tez yöneten danışmanlar örneklemi oluşturmuştur. Bu bağlama toplam 91 danışmanın yönettiği tezlerin savunma jürileri incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda sosyal bilgiler öğretimi alanında 4 ve üzeri sayıda yüksek lisans ve doktora tezi yaptıran toplam 91 öğretim üyesinin, tez jürisi oluştururken aynı öğretim üyelerini jüri üyesi olarak belirlediği yönünde güçlü bir eğilimleri olduğu belirlenmiştir. İncelenen bu tezlere Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu’nun (YÖK) "Ulusal Tez Merkezi" sitesi taranarak ulaşılmıştır.

Higher education on educational sciences in Turkey is practiced at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level. Of these, graduate and doctorate levels are postgraduate studies and end with the defense of the theses prepared by students on the advices of their supervisor/s within the institute of educational or social sciences. Most of the times, juries for thesis defense are designated by the thesis supervisor. The purpose of this research is to descriptively examine how thesis supervisors decide on the names to form thesis defence juries at graduate and doctorate level studies in Social sciences education. Data collection process and analysis in the study where document analysis is one of the qualitative research methods; It consists of four stages: scanning theses, determining the sample, data processing, data analysis in the field of social studies education. 1227 master's and 84 doctoral thesis studies were grouped according to their advisors, universities and the number of advisors who made their thesis. In the study, in which all theses in the field of Social Studies education constitute the universe, consultants who manage 4 or more theses have been formed by using criterion sampling from purposeful sampling in order to make the data meaningful. In this context, the defense juries of the theses directed by 91 consultants were examined. As a result of the research, it has been determined that 91 faculty members who have 4 or more postgraduate and doctoral theses in the field of social studies teaching have a strong tendency to determine the same faculty members as jury members while creating the thesis jury. These theses were examined by browsing the "National Thesis Center" site of the Higher Education Council (YÖK).
