Analysis of Music Teachers 'Views on Use of Technology in Music Education


The technology, which is one of the 21st century skills in our developing age, has an important place in music education. Technology support in music education; It enables students to receive life-long education, increase their creativity and desire to learn, access information easily, and receive more enjoyable education. In this study, it is aimed to examine the opinions of music teachers about the skills of using technology in music education.According to the literature surveys, professional interviews and the results of the survey applied to music teachers for this research, the opinions of the music teachers on the use of technology in music education were taken. In this research, the research proposal was prepared by making the necessary correspondences with MEB Yeğitek General Directorate to apply the survey to the large group (05.12.2019 dated - 81576613/605.01/24212482 numbered).The ministry of education has sent a letter to the music teachers working in public institutions and ensured the implementation of the questionnaire via google form. 350 music teachers working in the public participated in the survey, which was answered on a voluntary basis. The survey data were first processed on the excel program, then interpreted using the SPSS program for the necessary statistical analysis on the data. When the personal information of the music teachers in the sample group is evaluated, it is determined that most of them work in secondary school, the gender is female, between the ages of 31-45, the working years in the profession are between 6-10 years and have bachelor’s degree. When the survey data are examined, it is concluded that the use of technology in music education of music teachers can be improved. The majority of music teachers use courses, seminars, etc. for using technology in music education. It was determined that they did not participate in the activities, but they would like to participate in these activities if possible. Reporting the research analysis to the Ministry of National Education is important in terms of organizing vocational in-service training activities for music teachers.
