İnsanların yaşadıkları çevreyi, toplumu ve doğa olaylarını nedensellik, karşılıklı ilgi ve bağlılık ve dağılış prensiplerine göre araştıran ve sonuçlarını açıklayan bilim coğrafya olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Her bilim dalında olduğu gibi coğrafya biliminin temelini de kavramlar oluşturmaktadır. Kavramlar en az iki olgu, olay ve nesnelerin ortak özelliklerine göre gruplandırılmış soyut simgelerdir. Öğretim sürecinde kavram öğretimi önemli bir konu olup, öğretiminde ve kavram yanılgılarının belirlenmesi ve giderilmesinde çeşitli strateji ve yöntemler kullanılmaktadır. Edebi metinler bu yöntemlerden biri olup, özellikle çocuklarda kavramların somutlaştırılmasında ve öğretiminin kolaylaşmasında hikâyeler önemli yer tutmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı da Seksen Günde Dünya Turu hikâye kitabındaki coğrafi kavramlar tespit etmek ve kategorileştirmektir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olan doküman incelemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Veriler doküman analizi tekniği kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın veri kaynağını Jules Verne tarafından yazılan Yonca Dalar tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan ve Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı bünyesinde oluşturulmuş olan 100 Temel Eser içerisinde yer alan Seksen Günde Dünya Turu isimli çocuk kitabı oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma sonucunda Seksen Günde Dünya Turu hikâye kitabında 58 coğrafi kavramın yer aldığı görülmektedir. Bu kavramların 44’ü fiziki coğrafya, 12’si beşerî ve ekonomik coğrafya alanında ve 2’si de genel coğrafya alanlarında bulunmaktadır. Fiziki coğrafya kategorisinde olduğu tespit edilen coğrafi kavramların 15’inin matematik coğrafya bilgisi, 9’unun iklim bilimi, 5’inin bitki/toprak coğrafyası ve 15’inin de yer şekilleri coğrafyası alanlarında bulunduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Beşerî ve ekonomik coğrafya kategorisinde bulunan coğrafi kavramların 6’sının nüfus ve yerleşme coğrafyası ve 6’sının ise ekonomik coğrafya alanında yer aldığı tespit edilmiştir. Seksen Günde Dünya Turu hikâye kitabında tespit edilen coğrafi kavramların genel olarak fiziki coğrafya kategorisinde yer alması hikâyedeki kahramanın dünya turu yapması ve yolculuk esnasında gidilen bölgelerin betimlenmesi ile açıklanabilir. Çalışma sonucunda coğrafya konularının öğretiminde kavram öğretim sürecini destekleyecek nitelikteki kitapların seçilerek, öğrencilerin kavramları öğrenim sürecine katkı sağlanması önerilebilir.

Geography is the science that studies the environment, society and natural phenomena in which people live according to the principles of causality, mutual interest and dependence, and explains the results. As in every branch of science, concepts form the basis of geography. Concepts are abstract symbols grouped according to the common characteristics of at least two facts, events and objects. Concept teaching is an important issue in the teaching process, and various strategies and methods are used in teaching and identifying and eliminating misconceptions. Literary texts are one of these methods, and stories have an important place in concretizing concepts and facilitating their teaching, especially in children. The purpose of this study is to identify and categorize the geographical concepts in the Storybook of the World Tour in Eighty Days. In the study, the document analysis method, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The data were analyzed using the document analysis technique. As the data source in the research, a children's book named World Tour in Eighty Days is included in 100 Basic Works written by Jules Verne, adapted into Turkish by Yonca Dalar and created under the Ministry of National Education. As a result of the study, it is seen that there are 58 geographical concepts in the Story Book of the World Tour in Eighty Days. 44 of these concepts are found in physical geography, 12 in human and economic geography, and 2 in general geography. It was concluded that 15 of the geographical concepts determined to be in the category of physical geography were in the fields of mathematical geography, 9 in climate science, 5 in plant/soil geography and 15 in geography of landforms. It has been determined that 6 of the geographical concepts in the category of human and economic geography are in the field of population and settlement geography and 6 of them are in the field of economic geography. The fact that the geographical concepts identified in the Eighty Days World Tour story book are generally included in the category of physical geography can be explained by the hero in the story making a world tour and describing the regions visited during the journey. As a result of the study, it can be suggested to contribute to the learning process of students' concepts by choosing the books that will support the concept teaching process in the teaching of geography subjects.
