Genel olarak tarih öğretimi ya da sosyal bilgiler dersi içerisinde eriyik bir halde varlığını sürdürmeye çalışan yerel tarih alanı, günümüzde yaşadığımız çevrenin daha yakından tanınması ve özellikle bireylerin yakın çevresindeki tarihi eser ve kalıntılara duyduğu merakla giderek artan bir öneme sahiptir. Bu öneme binaen özellikle son yıllarda yerel tarih alanıyla ilgili pek çok çalışma yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma, sosyal bilgiler öğretiminde yerel tarih ögelerinin kullanımına ilişkin öğretmen görüşlerini Trabzon şehri kapsamında belirlemek için yapılmıştır. Bu amaç çerçevesinde nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması olarak yürütülen çalışma, 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılında Trabzon’da MEB’e bağlı okullarda çalışan öğretmenlerle yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunda 10 sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni yer almaktadır. Araştırmada yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Bu verilerden temalar oluşturulmuş ve bu temalar cevaplarının sıklıklarına göre tablolarda belirtilmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında toplanan verilerin anlaşılmasını kolaylaştırmak ve güvenirliğin artırılması için öğretmenlerin sorulara verdikleri cevaplardan doğrudan alıntılar yapılmış ve bu alıntılara tabloların alt kısmında yer verilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda elde edilen verilere göre, araştırmaya katılan sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin tamamı yerel tarih öğretiminin sosyal bilgiler dersi kapsamında kullanılması gerektiğinin altını çizmiştir. Öğretmenlerin yerel tarih öğretimiyle alakalı herhangi bir kursa katılmadıkları araştırma kapsamında tespit edilmiş ve Trabzon kentine ait yerel tarih ögelerinin öğrencilere aktarılması gerektiği fikri öğretmenler tarafından aktarılmıştır. Öğretmenler ayrıca Trabzon tarihinde önemli yer tutan ve öğrencilere öğretebileceklerini düşündükleri tarihi; şahsiyet, olay, mekân ve dönemler hakkında birçok farklı yorumda bulunmuşlardır.

In general, the local history field that tries to survive in history teaching or social studies courses has an increasing importance because of the popularity of current environment we live in, and people’s curiosity to the historical artifacts and remains. Because of this importance, especially in recent years, many studies about local history field have been practiced. This study was conducted to determine the opinions of teachers on the use of local history items in social studies teaching in Trabzon city scale. The study, which is conducted as a case study of qualitative research designs within the framework of this aim, was conducted in 2018-2019 academic year in Trabzon with teachers working in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and students in these schools. 10 social studies teachers have been located in the study group. Semi-structured interview form were used in the study. The data were analyzed by content analysis method. Themes were formed from these data and these themes were stated in the tables according to the frequency of answers of teachers. In order to facilitate the understanding of the data collected within the scope of the study and to increase the reliability, direct quotations from the answers of the teachers to the questions were made and these quotations are given at the bottom of the tables. According to the data obtained from the study, all of the social studies teachers participating in the study underlined that local history teaching should be used within the scope of social studies course. Within the scope of the research it was determined that teachers did not attend any courses about history teaching, and the idea that the local history elements of the city of Trabzon should be transferred to the students has been conveyed by the teachers. The teachers also made many comments about the historical personalities, events, places and periods that they had an important place in the history of Trabzon and they thought they could teach the students.
