Projelerin başarıyla tamamlanması, proje yöneticileri için önemli ve aynı zamanda zorlu bir süreçtir. Bir projenin başarılı sonuçlara ulaşmasında, farklı faktörlerin kritik rolleri bulunmaktadır. Proje yönetimi, büyük ölçüde yöneticilerin sahip olduğu yetkinlikler ve kişisel özelliklere dayanır. Özellikle, proje yöneticilerinin kişisel nitelikleri, projeleri hedeflere ulaştırmada belirleyici bir etken olarak öne çıkar ve iş dünyasında stratejik bir öneme sahiptir. Bu makalede, projelerdeki en önemli başarı unsurlarından birinin insan faktörü olduğu düşüncesinden hareketle, kişilik özellikleri ile proje başarısı arasındaki ilişkinin nasıl şekillendiği ele alınmıştır. Bu çerçevede, 232 farklı kurumdan proje uygulayıcısına, kişilik özelliklerini ve projelerin başarısına dair algılarını ölçmeyi amaçlayan bir anket yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, nicel analiz teknikleri kullanılarak incelenmiş ve değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiler regresyon analizleri yoluyla test edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, uyumluluk (yumuşak başlılık) ve özdenetim (sorumluluk) gibi kişilik özelliklerinin proje başarısı üzerinde anlamlı bir etki yarattığı görülmüştür. Buna karşılık, dışadönüklük, nevrotizm ve deneyime açıklık gibi diğer üç kişilik boyutunun proje başarısı üzerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir etkisi bulunamamıştır. Bu durum, her bireysel özelliğin proje çıktıları üzerinde aynı derecede etkili olmadığını ortaya koymaktadır. Araştırma sonuçları, özellikle uyumlu ve sorumluluk sahibi bireylerin ekip dinamiklerine olumlu katkı sağladığını, liderlik süreçlerinde daha etkili olduklarını göstermektedir. Bu bağlamda, proje yöneticilerinin seçiminde kişilik özelliklerinin dikkate alınması gerektiği vurgulanabilir. Bu çalışma, psikolojik ve davranışsal değişkenlerin proje yönetimi bağlamındaki önemine dikkat çekerek literatüre anlamlı bir katkı sunmaktadır.

The successful completion of projects is an important and challenging process for project managers. Various factors play a critical role in the successful outcome of a project. Project management largely depends on the competencies and personal characteristics of managers. In particular, the personal qualities of project managers stand out as a decisive factor in achieving project goals and are of strategic importance in the business world. In this article, based on the idea that one of the most important success factors in projects is the human factor, the relationship between personality traits and project success is examined. In this context, a survey was conducted with 232 project implementers from different institutions to measure their personality traits and perceptions of project success. The data obtained were analyzed using quantitative analysis techniques, and the relationships between the variables were tested through correlation and regression analyses. The results of the analyses showed that personality traits such as agreeableness (soft-spoken) and self-control (responsibility) had a significant effect on project success. In contrast, the other three personality dimensions—extraversion, neuroticism, and openness to experience—were found to have no statistically significant effect on project success. This finding indicates that not all individual traits have the same degree of influence on project outcomes. The research results show that compliant and responsible individuals, in particular, make positive contributions to team dynamics and are more effective in leadership processes. In this context, it can be emphasized that personality traits should be taken into account in the selection of project managers. This study contributes meaningfully to the literature by highlighting the importance of psychological and behavioral variables in the context of project management.
