Bu makale; dini, geleneksel, teorik teolojilerin çok kültürlü ve çoğulcu çağdaş dünyanın teolojik sorunlarını ele almadaki yetersizliklerini eleştirel anlamda ele alarak kendisini alternatif ve yeni bir teolojik gayret olarak sunan pratik teoloji hakkındadır. Pratik teolojinin başlangıç noktası geleneksel, klasik teolojilerdeki kriz durumları ve yaşanılan çağın teolojik sorunlarını çözmedeki yetersizlikleridir. Pratik teolojiye göre teoloji statik, sabit, evrensel, teorik yanı ağır basan bir gayret olmamalıdır. Teoloji farklı tip inançlara ve eğilimlere sahip bireylerden oluşan çağdaş toplumun insanına hitap eden daha çok pratik yaşama dönük bir disiplin olmalıdır. Teolojideki işlev bozukluklarının giderilmesinin yolu teolojide teorinin yanında yaşamla doğru ilişkilerin kurulduğu pratik yöne hakettiği değeri vermekten geçer. Heleki çağdaş zamanların çoğulcu ve çok kültürlü toplumu açısından bu, şarttır. Teolojideki böyle bir dönüşümü gerçekleştirmenin ilk yolu çağdaş toplumla bir diyalog, sağlıklı bir iletişimdir. Pratik teoloji bu diyalog ve iletişimi ötekini dinleme ya da farklı sesleri duymayı öğrenerek gerçekleştirmeye çalışır. Daha sonraki adım ise teolojinin bizzat kendisini eleştirel bir tarzda refleksif olarak ele almasıdır. Teolojinin kendi üzerine bu düşünümü, kendisini, çağdaş toplumlarda yeniden gerçekleştirmenin yeni inşa süreçlerini ortaya çıkarması açısından önemlidir. Bu süreçte teoloji, teoloji dışı disiplinlerden, onların veri ve metodolojilerinden de yararlanmalıdır. Mesela sosyoloji, psikoloji gibi beşeri bilimlerden yararlandığı gibi istatistiksel yöntemi kullanan diğer disiplinlerin verileri de teoloji açısından önemlidir. Dahası pratik teoloji bu anlamda disiplinlerarası bir yol izleyerek teolojiyi teorinin pençesinden kurtarıp onu pastoral çalışmaları, ıslah evlerini, eğitim kurumlarını, ceza evlerini, hastaneleri, askeriye gibi kolluk güçlerini kapsayan ve kamuyu ilgilendiren alanlara da taşıyan pratik bir gayret haline getirme amacındadır. Bu açıdan pratik teolojinin sorduğu temel sorular şunlardır: Günümüz dünyasında teolojinin işlev ve görevi ne olmalıdır? Teoloji kamusal alana ne gibi bir katkı sunabilir? Günümüzde teolog olmanın anlamı nedir? Bu makale bu ve benzeri sorulara cevap aramanın yanında pratik teolojiyi toplumumuza tanıtma amacını da taşımaktadır.
This article is about practical theology, which presents itself as an alternative and new theological endeavor by critically addressing the inadequacy of religious, traditional, and theoretical theologies in addressing the theological problems of the multicultural and pluralistic contemporary world. Practical theology's starting point is the crisis situations in traditional, classical theologies and their inadequacy in solving the theological problems of our time. According to practical theology, theology should not be a static, fixed, universal, or theoretically predominant endeavor. Theology should be a discipline focused on practical life, addressing the needs of contemporary society, comprised of individuals with diverse beliefs and inclinations. The way to address the dysfunctions in theology is to give due importance to the practical aspect of theology, which establishes correct relationships with real life, alongside theory. This is especially essential for the pluralistic and multicultural society of contemporary times. The first way to achieve such a transformation in theology is through dialogue and healthy communication with contemporary society. Practical theology strives to achieve this dialogue and communication by listening to others and learning to hear different voices. The next step is for theology to critically and reflexively examine itself. This self-reflection is crucial for theology in revealing new constructive processes of self-realization in contemporary societies. In this process, theology should also utilize data and methodologies from non-theological disciplines. For example, data from other disciplines employing statistical methods, as well as from the humanities such as sociology and psychology, are also important for theology. Furthermore, practical theology aims to follow an interdisciplinary path, freeing theology from the grip of theory and transforming it into a practical endeavor encompassing pastoral work, correctional facilities, educational institutions, prisons, hospitals, law enforcement agencies such as the military, and other areas of public concern. In this respect, the fundamental questions posed by practical theology are: What should be the function and role of theology in today's world? What contribution can theology make to the public sphere? What does it mean to be a theologian today? This article not only seeks answers to these and similar questions but also aims to introduce practical theology to our society.
