DOCUMENTARY FILM IN THE CONTEXT OF LOOKING AT THE REPRESENTING NATURE AND CYCLE: A RESEARCH ON HONEYLAND AND KAMİLET


Documentary film has many functions in the social area. Therefore, the documentary film that has a dominant role in the recording of the existing, fulfills a great function in representation of cultural, social phenomena and events. Examining the relations of all living things with each other and their environment, the ecology is established on a balance. There are several positive or negative issues within the scope of ecology at the present time. Global ecological problems bring along the local problems within this context. On the other hand, the distinctive dynamics of each geography acts in various ways in order to exist and to protect the ecological balance. The documentary film representatively records these actions and contributes in the life cycle within an artistic perspective. Tamara Kotevska, Ljubomir Stefanov, directors of the documentary film named Honeyland, and İlkay Nişancı, the director of the documentary film named Kamilet, acquire depictive data regarding how the contribution to the representation and cycle of nature is realized in the documentary film with the help of in-depth interview. The action of recording the representation and cycle of nature is not only a contribution to culture but it can also be a tool for ecological readings. Global ecological problems and local solutions to these problems are set forth at the point where we stand now. The function of the documentary film at this point is to describe the ecological structure of the country, espeacially, in which it is made. On that note, the function is that the Macedonia documentary named Honeyland and the documentary film from Turkey named Kamilet portray similar subjects and the relation between representation and cycle of nature in this study. The aim of the study is the action of presenting the analysis regarding how the relationship between representation and cycle of nature is realized in documentary films. The study will be conducted with the method of making analyses through comparisons, as well as by benefiting from in-depth interview technique with film directors. It is understood that the representation of nature can show similar characteristics in every culture, however, various differences are shaped as film language, the representation of nature is portrayed with different perspectives, and this cinematographic action has a close connection with other disciplines.
