SYRIAN WOMEN IN WAR AND MIGRATION PROCESS


The war and the immigration it brings with it are the source of many social and economic problems. In this context, the Syrian War occupies the agenda of the world with its social and economic problems. However, the Syrian War, which started in 2011 and continues to exacerbate from time to time, affects the lives of individuals, communities and even the world. In this process, women come to the forefront as the most affected by the war and the negative effects of the war. Women share the front row with children among the victims of the wars around the world. The process of war, which has sociological, political, cultural and economic consequences, is a phenomenon that greatly increases the visibility of gender inequality. The aim of this study is to make visible the forms of violence experienced by women who had to migrate as a result of the war. In this context, the main objective of the study is to make visible the details of the violence and social and economic problems experienced by Syrian refugee women who came to Elazığ during and after the war. For these purposes, a qualitative analysis was conducted in-depth interviews with 12 Syrian women refugees. The findings were analyzed on the basis of the categories of violence during the war, violence experienced after the war and instrumentalization in the process of violence. This study, which was designed with qualitative research design, was carried out in-depth interview technique using semi-structured interview form. In the preparation of the questions to be asked during the interviews, the concepts of violence in war and sexual violence were taken as basis. Personal information of the interviewees was not included in the study due to the principle of privacy and all kinds of risks. Interviews were usually conducted in semi-structured questionnaires in the meeting areas agreed with asylum seekers and in some of their homes, using an interpreter. During the interviews, permission was requested for voice recording but no voice recording was made because the interviewers did not have permission. On average, each participant was interviewed for 1 (one) hour. The statements used during the interview were noted and tried to be conducted.
