THE IMPACT OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGE AND USAGE LEVELS OF HOSPITAL MANAGERS ON ORGANIZATIONAL INNOVATION


Purpose: This research was carried out to determine the impact of public and private hospital managers 'knowledge and use of strategic management tools on organizational innovation, and to evaluate managers' knowledge and use of strategic management tools and their views on organizational innovation.Materials and Methods: The universe of this descriptive study was conducted with 12 Ministry of Health hospitals and 15 private hospitals with 102 hospital managers who agreed to participate in the study. The first part of the questionnaire consisted of statements questioning the demographic characteristics of the participants, the second part was the sel Organizational Innovation Scale” and the third part was Kullanma Using the Strategic Management Tools and Evaluating the Knowing Status Scale”. Data were analyzed with SPSS 25.0 package program. Findings: Total quality management, social media tools and internet, mission and vision statements, strategic planning and outsourcing were found to be the tools that hospital managers have the most knowledge, use and planned to use in the future. There was a statistically significant (p <0.05) difference between the use of strategic management tools and organizational innovation. In addition, a significant difference was found between the scores of managers' organizational innovation scale and gender, age, occupation and service year variables, and their opinions about knowing and using strategic management tools between gender, educational status, occupational and service year variables (p <0.05). Result: It was determined that the results of the study did not have sufficient information about the strategic management tools of hospital managers. In this direction, it was determined that the management skills that they should have were not taken into consideration in the selection of these managers. R value was 0.704 and there was a high level of relationship between them. In this context, it is recommended that hospital managers should be trained among the people who are adequately equipped in the field of management and in accordance with the merit system, strategic management tools and the benefits of innovation to the health institution.
