PRİMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ OPINIONS ON CULTUR, CULTURAL HERİTAGE AND GLOBALIZATION


The aim of this study is to examine opinions’ of primary school teachers’ on culture, cultural heritage and globalization. For this purpose, phenomenological model was used in the research. Research was conducted by the maximum variation sampling method from stratified purposeful sampling methods. The sample was composed with 10 primary school teachers (5 males, 5 females) who work in Samsun. Primary school teachers have different professional experience of teaching and level of education. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 primary school teachers to collect data. Descriptive analysis technique used to analyse the research data. The number of studies carried out in the literature on this subject are limited and desire to determine how students were affected by globalization are among the reasons for carrying out this study. Analysis of the data indicated that primary school teachers’ perceive culture as being competent in the fields such as traditions, arts, science and education. Most of the primary school teachers perceive globalization as “global village”. Some primary school teachers have positive approach the notion of globalization; facilitating human life in communication and transportation, allowing them to recognize different cultures. Primary school teachers’ who have negative attitude the notion of globalization consensus by reasons such as; globalization erodes traditional values and there are some difficulties occurred transfer to children cultural values in this process, it also contains tools that contribute to the increase of racism activities in the world and industrializing states suppress other states.
