POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT MOVEMENTS AND ALTERNATIVE MEDIA:AN EVALUATION ON YEŞİL GAZATTE

Environmental movements evaluated within the framework of new social movements have become important due to the difficulty in protecting environmental values as a result of urbanization and industrialization. It is clear that the movements manifest themselves in parallel with the scientific developments experienced by modernization and the increasing environmental pollution as a result of industrialization. However, the period in which environmental movements are socially considered as part of a team is the 1968 period. While activism comes alive with this period, the environment also gains a place among the prominent themes. In fact, from the beginning of the 1970s, a party-based organization also manifests itself. UK is a pioneer in organizing environmentalist movements at the level of parties. In the Western countries after the UK, the emergence of environmentalist movements as a political party has occurred in the 1980s. Turkey is caught in the same movement in this period. In Turkey where the first environmentalist movements started with the protest of local environmental problems by the public, Yeşiller Party was established in 1988. For the solution of environmental problems after the 1950s in Turkey, the party, which shows that the efforts of the voluntary organizations are insufficient as a reason for its establishment, has displayed a dissenting attitude. However, it did not succeed and he followed a spotty progress.
