ALEVI BEKTASHI BELIEF'S CHANGE WITH URBANİZATION

The Alevi Bektashi belief is a multi-faceted belief system that goes back to the pre-Islamic period, with the process ofIslamization of the Turks in the 8th century and the continuation of pre-Islamic Turkish beliefs under the name of Islam. The Alevi Bektashi belief is the name of a road that is mostly lived in rural areas in settlements established on the outskirts of the village or on the mountain. The Alevi Bektashi belief was more developed in the village life.Hence, it has survived for centuries as a belief in village life rather than in the city. In the village life, Alevi Bektashi faith was kept alive and worshiped in the biggest house of the village. Alevi Bektashi faith, which has been living in rural areas and especially in villages since centuries, has begun to come to life in the cities after the declaration of the Republic, especially since 1950s for various socio-economic reasons. In the 1950s and in the period after the migration from the village to the city with the Alevi Bektashi faith, when they came to the city, they stayed away from the beliefs of life in the village because they could live their beliefs and not do places to worship. This situation is one of the factors that cause the Alevi Bektashis to be assimilated. In the process, people with Alevi Bektashi belief have built places where they can live their beliefs. These places that do not have official status are called “cemevi” which is formed under the name of association or foundation. Alevi Bektashi faith, which has been maintained for centuries in the village life with urbanization, has not been able to maintain its own structure together with city life. The rituals of faith have chosen the way to be revised as adapting to city life. With this research, the differences between the Alevi Bektashi belief in the village life and the rituals that have changed in the city life will be discussed in the cause-effect relationship
