12TH WORLD UNIVERSITY WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP WOMEN’S COMPETITIONS TECHNICAL ANALYSES

This study was conducted to analyze women’s competitions in 12th World University Wrestling Championship and to find out the position of Turkish female wrestlers in the world. One way ANOVA and LSD tests were used in statistical comparisons. 50 wrestlers from a total of 15 countries participated in the Championship. A total of 519 points were taken in 63 competitions and the average of points per game was 8,24. While 66,67% of the competitions ended with fall and fall point, 33,33% ended with points. Average points per game were 7,52 for light-weight wrestlers, 9,55 for medium-weight wrestlers and 8,24 for heavy weight wrestlers. When average points for elimination matches, semi-finals and finals were examined, while 8,25 points were taken in elimination matches, 7,31 points were taken in semi-finals and third round matches. An average of 8,43 points were taken per game in the finals, repechage and fourth and fifth round matches. Turkish wrestlers had a total of 21 matches. They lost 77 points and took 111 points. Their average points per match was 5,28, while their average points lost was 3,67. In comparison of stages, the difference between the points taken per match were found to be significant (p<0,001). Conclusion: It was found that in women’s wrestling not losing points is as important as getting points. While Turkish wrestlers were found to have a world class level in some weights, it was found that they needed more progress in some weights. Turkish women wrestlers need to do more practice in weights they show low performance so that they can find a place in top levels in the world. In addition, it is recommended that these weights should be supported by adjusting weights with other weights.
