A hadith regarding that "The world is on the ox and fish" is the biggest evidence that everything for the benefit of mankind has been hidden in them by the creator. Plants and animals have been a tool for people to embellish the things they will use in daily life, as well as meeting the vital needs of people. It is known that the first people appearing as a consumption society lived in caves and were scared of animals and natural events. Based on the cave pictures that have reached the present day, it is understood that they developed a belief system based on magic to protect themselves from the evils that may come from them and they depicted the animals they saw on the walls of their living spaces. It is known that these animal drawings were painted with the colors obtained by crushing and diluting the ores discovered in nature. It is observed that animals were domesticated along with the transition to settled life and that they produced ropes from their fibers and used them in textile production. After the earlier stages during which fibers were utilized in their natural forms, they discovered that the plants and animals found in nature contained color ores in themselves most likely through observations, they uncovered them by trial-and-error methods, and they started to apply them to the fibers they would use in textile production. Efficient results of these practices have encouraged them to continue their work. It is obvious that they ensured the use of these applications throughout history by transferring them from generation to generation. The development, use and classification of natural (vegetable, animal) and synthetic dyestuffs discovered by human and used in textile production in the historical process were discussed in this article.
