EVALUATION OF DESIGN SKILLS OF STUDENTS: EXAMPLE OF 3D DESIGN COURSE


In the globalizing world, it is seen that the importance of technological movements is very important for the students to get information in education. It is seen that education and training activities seen in educational environments in general in this century are the realization of the information obtained by the individual in real life as well as making realistic designs in virtual environment and making them into products. It was seen that 3D design studies were given to individuals in various educational institutions under club works. Although clubs differ in their working principles, they aim to develop their design skills, visualize learning and design and produce products. The aim of this study is to present the recommendations of the students who will take 3D design lessons in the light of the data obtained by examining the drawing abilities of the individuals and their effects on 3D thinking skills. In this study, data were collected through the developed rubric form scale during the study carried out by using qualitative research method and observations were made by observing club works in the classes during the education. In addition to the data obtained from the two researchers, data were collected by rubric form scale by the field expert. While the field expert was evaluating with the rubric form, his thoughts were recorded with the audio protocol. In the light of the obtained data, in general, in 3D design club studies, it has been observed that education activities are best when they are planned by doing, living and enjoyable. Hence, individuals who learn by doing, living and having fun are highly motivated to work and the students are happy in doing their work. When the behaviors and studies observed during the research were examined, it was observed that individuals felt happy in club activities, they enjoyed their work and displayed positive behaviors in the classroom. It was observed that the students worked regularly and in a planned manner and showed sharing behaviors. In the club activities, it has been observed that individuals acquire very good 3-dimensional thinking skills and turn them into behavior. The 3D design club is one of the important findings that is obtained as a result of the observation that students gain the skills of 3D thinking, designing a new product, creating and drawing.
