VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY TESTING OF THE ATTITUDE SCALE TOWARDS WRITING STORY


It was realized that story and storytelling gained importance with the advancement technological developments and advertising world. Nowadays known as the digital age and information age, it is seen that a story is created for information to be more attractive and everything that is desired to be marketed. Education is not foreign to this developing and changing world. Updates are made in the educational fields, especially in the curriculum. One of the striking changes in the curriculum is the concept of narrative text. It is seen that there is no scale for writing story in the literature. A scale that measures the attitudes of secondary school students towards writing story is needed. The aim of this study is to develop a scale to evaluate the attitudes of secondary school 7th grade students towards writing story. 441students participated in the study. As a result of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, a valid and reliable measurement scale that measures the attitudes of secondary school students towards writing story has emerged. As a result of the research, a 5-point Likert-type scale consisting of 24 items and 6 factors of “Attitude Scale Towards Writing Story”, consisting of interest, benefit, emotion, appreciation, process and content has emerged. The total amount of variance explained 57.151. For the reliability of the scale, the Cronbach's Alpha value of all 24 items for internal consistency was found to be .896. When the fit indices of the scale structure were examined, χ²/df= 1.780, TLI= 0.932, CFI= 0.941, RMSEA= 0.042 ve SRMR= 0.041 were found to have compliance index.
