INVESTIGATION OF MUSICAL ACCLAIM STATUS OF MUSIC TRAINING CANDIDATES: SAMPLE OF MUĞLA SITKI KOÇMAN UNIVERSITY


Societies have always been at the focal point of change and development throughout their existence. Change from the past to the present is inevitable. As the living conditions, tastes and perceptions of the individuals forming the society developed, the change gained momentum in parallel. Appreciation in general terms; can be defined as the ability to distinguish beautiful ugly. The relationship of the cases or situations that we describe as beautiful with the sense of taste is directly proportional (Tunalı, 1996 p.259). Appreciation is a relative concept; it is a personal judgment; everyone has a different understanding of taste. It is a perceptual and pleasing phenomenon of a concrete object or an abstract concept. Everything perceived with five senses, such as a music heard by ear, a meal tasted with tongue, the smell of a smelling flower, is included in the concept of appreciation (Ercan, Barış, 2016 p.2257). In this research, it is aimed to evaluate the musical acclaim status of Music Educator candidates in terms of various variables and to reveal the current situation. In order to collect the necessary data, a questionnaire consisting of 12 closed and open ended questions was applied to the students. The questionnaire consists of two parts to determine the demographic characteristics and musical acclaims of the students. In the analysis of the data, frequency (f) and percentage (%), which are the distribution measures, are used from descriptive statistics. At the end of the research, the reasons of the musical tastes of the students who participated in the survey, the factors affecting their musical tastes, the distributions of musical tastes, the effects of the education they received on musical tastes and so on. Situations were determined and the data obtained were processed in the research.
