TEACHING ELEMENTS OF SENTENCE WITH PUPPETS


In this research the study performed with puppet texts, that are thought to be more effective instead of the activities in the current program, is approached and it is aimed to test the degree of influence of education with these activities. In order to conduct the research the method used in this research was pre-test post test control group experimental study. From this aspect the research conducted is a semi experimental study which is one of the experimental studies. The research was conducted utilizing two different classes from the same school with 8th grade students. From these classes, class 8/A was experimental group and class 8/B was control group. The sample of the research consists of 8th grade students from Martyr Hamit Fendoğlu Secondary School in Battalgazi province of Malatya city. In order to gather data in the research “Parts of Sentence Success Test” was used for measuring success and “Turkish Course Attitude Scale” was used for measuring the attitudes of the students. Within a certain study schedule data was gathered, protected and reliability of the data was provided. SPSS 23 program was used for the analysis of the data obtained. In order to measure success and attitude between experimental and control groups t-test, and for the determination of female and male students’ conditions before and after education “Paired Sample t-test” were used. At the end of the research a numerical increase was discovered in the success averages of the experimental group students however this increase was not significant. Statistically a significant difference was not found between female and male students. The use of puppets constituted a significant difference in students’ attitudes toward the lesson and this difference is statistically significant. At the point of permanence level although a difference was constituted on behalf of the experimental group, this difference was not significant statistically. At permanence level statistically a significant difference was not found between female and male students.
