A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS of PRIMARY SCHOOL MATHEMATICS CURRICULUM of TURKEY and HONG KONG

The aim of this study to compare the 1-4th grades mathematics course curriculum of Turkey and Hong-Kong, which are being implemented, in a comparative way. This qualitative study was conducted according to the case study model and the curricula of the countries were considered as cases. The curricula of the countries which have been reached through the official general web sites have been examined by using document analysis method. As a result of the findings obtained in the study, it was concluded that there are many common / similar objectives in the programs, but some of these goals are presented at lower levels in the HMCC (Hong Kong Kong Mathematics Course Curriculum) and the program includes relatively high level behaviors belonging to the same learning area. Although both of the curricula use the spiral content editing approach, it has been determined that HMCC has a relatively comprehensive and rich structure. In terms of teaching-learning proceeses and assessment activities it was concluded that there has included in any sample in TMCC(Turkey Mathematics Course Curriculum), however in terms of both curriculum elements HMCC has a relatively richer and more understandable structure for its implementers.
