THE VIEWS OF MUSIC STUDENTS REGARDING THEIR FOREIGN EDUCATION EXPERIENCES WITHIN THE SCOPE OF ERASMUS PLUS PROGRAM


Erasmus Program consists of student exchange, academic lecturer exchange, organization of mutual exchange, joint curriculum development projects, intensive programs, networks of academic expertise, European credit transfer system and Erasmus language courses. One of the most intensive activities of the Erasmus Program is student training mobility. In Turkey, students visit various European countries through music exchange programs abroad. In this study, within the scope of the Erasmus Plus program, the experiences and perceptions of the music students who go abroad for their education and cultural achievements and their evaluations regarding the process are discussed. This study aims to understand the students' experiences, perceptions and expectations about the educational processes in the European countries they visited within the scope of Erasmus Plus in the field of music between 2014-2018. This is a case study which is one of the qualitative study designs. In the study, one of the qualitative research methods, the ‘interview' technique was used. The data were collected by a semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers. In the analysis of the data, content analysis method was utilized This research includes assesment of students opinions of the music students who studied abroad within the Erasmus Plus student exchange program on their source of information for this program, determining factors in their preferred country, reasons for deciding to study in foreign programs, difficulties experienced in the educational process in terms of facilities and level of education in the schools they visited, their differences from the schools in Turkey, the scope of cross-cultural interactions and introductory communications regarding Turkey in the countries they visited, the opinions of the musicians at the countries they visited regarding the Turkish Music.
