The purpose of this study is to determine the disciplinary problems in vocational and technical high schools, to present the causes and solutions of these problems from teachers' perspectives, and to examine whether disciplinary problems, the causes and solutions differed according to the teachers’ gender and subject areas. In addition, the teachers were asked to evaluate their competencies in dealing with disciplinary problems. Since the teachers' perspectives were examined with qualitative and quantitative methods, mixed-method design was employed this study. In the research, quantitative data were obtained through the “Questionnaire of Disciplinary Problems, Their Causes and Solutions in Vocational and Technical High Schools” developed by the researchers and qualitative data were obtained through interviews using a structured interview form. In the collection of quantitative data, 296 teachers were determined by using simple random sampling and in the collection of qualitative data, 12 teachers were determined by using convenience sampling. As a result, it was determined that the most common disciplinary problems in vocational and technical high schools were absenteeism, using mobile phones in class, swearing and student non-compliance. It was seen that the causes of disciplinary problems identified were students, administration and school, teachers, families and entourage. The teachers preferred more intervening ways of solving disciplinary problems. In addition, students' behaviors that were perceived as problematic, the reasons of these behaviors, and the ways of solving them varied according to the teachers’ gender and subject areas. It was observed that the teachers did not give low scores to their competencies in coping with disciplinary problems.
