ENRICHMENT OF TEACHING SECONDARY MATHEMATICS EDUCATION PROGRAM: ACTION RESEARCH


In this study, an action research was carried out to enrich the teaching of the mathematics curriculum in the spring term of the second year of the elementary mathematics teaching department. The data collected within the framework of the related model was analyzed by descriptive analysis method. The population of the study consisted of the students in the 2nd grade of elementary mathematics teaching department of a private university in TRNC. The sample of the study consisted of 19 primary school mathematics teacher candidates who were 78.9% (n = 15) female and 21.1% (n = 4) male, determined by appropriate sampling method. The study was designed for the elementary school mathematics department second grade undergraduate program. While designing the courses in the action research plan, it is aimed to explain and teach the secondary school mathematics programs in the most effective way. The structure of the program, objectives, content, units, sub-learning of units, gains, solution of MEB 5th grade gain comprehension tests, determination of the questions in the solved test and preparing their own materials in order to develop the mentioned skills in the students during the 8-hour course period. It was applied. It was seen that the students stated that the study would make a positive contribution to their professional lives. It is stated that they have knowledge about the structure, content and characteristics of secondary school curriculum programs and that it is a positive contribution of the study in teaching the gains related to sub-learning areas. He stated that the study was a very important experience for them. They shared that the program's structure, objectives, seeing and writing examples of the gains gave them experience and thus they felt better equipped. Because of their positive contribution to all of them, they suggested that all of the students participate in these and similar studies.
