Training And Administration Of School Principals: Comparison And Solutions For Turkish Republic Of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Concerning Practices In Some European Countries And Turkey


In this study, previously conducted studies were investigated and compared related to the training and administration of school principals in some European Union countries (Greece and South Cyprus) and North Cyprus. Training and administration of training managers play a major role in improving the quality and values of education and training institutions. Therefore, in this study, school principals training programmes in Turkey, Greece and South Cyprus of Greek Administration were examined. According to the results, strengths and weaknesses were found regarding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus school principals training and administration in line with similarities and differences that were identified in Turkey, Greece and South Cyprus of Greek Administration in order to improve solutions. This research was carried out by using literature review research technique. As a result of the research, the most common problems encountered in literature review regarding administration procedures of school principals are as follows: exam and interview, in-service training, master's and doctoral degrees, and finally the necessity of administrative and leadership aptitude. According to the field study results in the light of the school principals training and administration models in Turkey, Greece and South Cyprus of Greek Administration; school principal training programs, a mandatory principal training program, the principle of impartiality (creation of an executive committee), in-service training courses, the creation of an education manager academy and the development and resolution of principal administration articles in the TRNC Teachers' Law in order to complete the deficiencies in the model adopted in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have been prominent solutions.
